She had the best seat in the house to watch and shoot the Mainz children's parade - I was quite envious!

HDR/tone-mapped from a single exposure then all SORTS of things, including perspective, crops, dodging, burning, levels, masks, blending modes, sharpen (I think)... it's all (hopefully!) in the history file.

Deb, this has a wonderful perspective and great relative size of the woman vs. the window. I'm not sure about the crop, but I do admit that the curtains in the top window enhance the green in the shutters well, so I can certainly see why you chose to include it.

This is VERY awesome Deb! She looks delighted as she looks at the world outside from her window. I get the feeling she probably sits there regularly don't you? What a great urban shot. One of my favorite kinds ever!

Edit: Ooops. . I also meant to compliment you on your WONDERFUL processing! It is fabulous!

Heh! I like the fact you like it for sentimental reasons more anyway!

I didn't get a chance to comment on this during the challenge, so I'm so glad it was brought back to my attention. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this photograph, not as much for aesthetic reasons as sentimental ones.

It reminds me so much from when I was I child and we would go to visit my great-grandmother in Germany. She would always be at her street-front window chatting with one neighbor or another when we arrived. Before she got too old, she would bake big sheets of potato cakes and pass them out to everybody. She was a real character...thanks for the flashback!

I really love the regularity of the composition (all the lines and geometry) offset by the beautiful shingling above and the unique drapes, and of course the central human figure. I agree that it has a charming European quality, and is lovely to look at for a while.

GREAT shot. I sat and stared at this for a while. It has such an old German feel to it. Maybe it's the architecture. Congrats on a nice score.

I really like this one as it tells a story, and it also has some wonderful lines and textures in the building.....

Well, I didn't even notice that was a camera in her hands. :) Love the colors and her thoughtful pose. Looks like you were pretty close to her level at least. :)

I like it. I would have preferred the whole left window shutter without cropping it.

Square crop to remove the distracting parts at the top? 6

I'd crop out the top part I think.

Nice light on the woman in the window. I'd try cropping a little closer -- right above the railing on the roof. I don't much go for the long skinny look in the format.
