Focus and clarity are raelly good as well. nice detail in you. Nice pose, and the background is not distracting in any way. Overall a nice shot. High key isn't my favorite, but still nicely done. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/18/2003 12:24:07 AM | I Want To Be A Carpenterby JonatanComment: I find the way that the background angles as it goes further into the background a bit distracting. i'm going to be so interested in seeing who everyone is. I didn't know we had so many kid photographers. Focus and clarity of you is very nice. I love the bright vivid colors as well. Nice shot! I like the addition of the tools as well. Nice touch. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Only got a few minutes, but I figured a short comment is better than no comment.
The shadow in the back distracts from the image in my opinion. I do like the refreshingness of this shot. I think that the close up really makes this for me.
Your focus and clarity of the ice is really good. I like the detail in the ice actually. You captured the texture very well.
I also like the bubbles from pouring it in.
Something is missing though. I'm not really sure what. It's just not holding my attention like I want it to. Maybe it's how it gets dark in the back and than leads to the shadows on the wall?
Overall decently done, just not my cup of....whatever it is. lol

The challenge called for a liquid NOT water. This looks like water to me, but I have been known to be wrong before.
This is a really really nice photograph. I like the whole scene as a whole. I like the steam, the colors and the road in the background.
There are a few things though that I see that as indivudual aspects could have been improved upon.
It's true that the road does lead OUT of the photo, and in this case only suceeds in creating a distraction. But, I still like it. lol
The far 'horizon' where the dirt meets the darker background LOOKS tilted, but it isn't. I'm not really sure if it's the road that creates the illusion that it's tilted, but something is.
Other than that, I think your focus and clarity are really great, and I could actually see this in the magazine cover challenge. I think it would work better in that challenge than the liquid without water challenge.
Looks like a very nice place to visit.

The very first thing I notice here is that the focus is really soft. I'm actually not really seeing a sharp point of focus.
The lighting hurts mostly, but I do like the little star reflections inside the glass. I don't like the bottom side of the glass because it's really bright, and the glare is white and distracting. Usually when I use flash, the focus turns out to be a bit nicer, but it doesn't seem to be the case in your situation.
The background is good. Nothing distracting in the background. I think though that the glare near the bottom ON the background is a bit distracting, but that isn't the background itself.
Definately liquid. Meets the challenge just fine. I wonder if a different angle would have helped to reduce the glare. For the look of the photo, I think the angle is good though. Also, a little trick I use with my camera is i put a white plastic cup over the flash, and it seems to help a little on glares.
Overall, an interesting idea. With better focus and lighting, I think that this would be something neat.

First thing I notice is that the focus seems really soft here. Obviously a low lighting shot, and I think that is making the focus a bit soft here. Better to set the camera down on something, and use the timer if your camera has one. That way, you can avoid any camera shake at all. Could help save the focus that way.
Also, while there is a CAN of liquid in the shot, we really can't see the actual liquid itself.
I do like how you have the flames in the glass. I tink that's a really cool effect. Makes for an interesting shot for sure. it's a little bit too bright in the center of the flames, but I think it doesn't harm the photo much if at all.
The angle and framing/cropping are ok. I disagree with the comment about removing the can from the photo. Without that can, the shot really doesn't fit the challenge at all. Even with the can, it's a bit of a stretch. Definately keep the can, but do put it on a solid background. I think that had it been all black, without the light colored area, the flames could have stood out on a total black background nicely. Especially if it were showing through the glass a bit.
Overall, just needs a bit of sharpness.

Focus does seem a bit soft on the glass, the noise maker, and the confetti. It's really hard to tell how it is on the bubbles cause of their textures.
The angle and framing/cropping are really good. I like how you have included the noise maker, and the confetti, while dark, do add a bit of interest to the shot.
You got a bright blue pixel to the right of the glass. I'm gonna have to mark you down 4 points for that. lol (just a joke if you follow the forums) Not a big deal.
The lighting on the left of the large part of the glass is a bit harsh. I do however like it on the bubbles. I like the little rainbows in the bubbles.
I would definately like to see sharper focus.

Definately gotta straighten this up a bit. I think that the left tilt hurts this shot a lot in my opinion.
The lighting is really good. I like how it's lit from the back. I do think that the glass being shaped differently helps this shot as well. A plain straight glass just wouldn't look as good.
The colors are really good, and I think that because of the lighting, it really helps to bring out the colors in the tea.
The focus looks quite soft on the upper part of the glass, but looks much clearer on the very bottom (base) of the glass. I think I would prefer this had the upper part been in focus as well.
Overall, interesting abstract looking shot.

Even with your description, I'm confused. Is the blob an entire bed sheet? Or is this blob actually pretty small and made up of only the gel? If so, what in the heck is that string? This looks like some kind of freaky tampon.
I think I would have focused mainly on the blob. The background isn't appealing and does not add to the 'liquid' in any way. It's hard to tell even what this is, if it is liquid, and what is going on.
The focus seems a bit soft. Either that, or the texture is one that really looks off. I would have gotten right up close and focussed mainly on the reflections
The little red lights really aren't very noticable at this distance. You can't really tell what they are. Looks like dirt in the gel or something.
The color of the blob is nice, I like that there are bright blue spots and dark blue spots.
Overall not really much to look at that interests me. I do think it would have been much more effective if it were closer up.

This is where some kind of 'photographers comments' are very helpful. To me, this looks like one of those solid glass balls with bubbles in it. I'm not really sure at all what this is.
Yes, that does look like santa caluse in the bubble to the right.
Focus seems a bit soft here, and I'm not really finding a particular main spot of interest.
The really bright light reflection thing to the right is a distracting.
Your colors are really nice though. I think it's a bright vivid red, and is very pretty red.
Overall though, it doesn't really make me jump out of my seat with excitement. Maybe if we could tell what this was, or if the focus were better.
