I would like to see this with the bottom soft focus section cropped off. It doesn't really add much to the photo, and it's such a large part of the photo that it is kind of distracting from the main subject in my opinion. I think your focus on the dark part of the tree is good, and it definately shows some interesting textures. ~Heather~

Looks like a straw hat. I like the textures, however, the out of focus edge really cuts throught the photo for me. because it's the only thing that is of soft focus, it really draws my attention and I find myself looking at it more than at the texture of the hat. I like the colors and the lighting seems good. I also like where you have placed it within the frame. ~Heather~

I'm kind of seeing al lthe stuff at the bottom as a distraction. the shell is beautiful and tefinately a texture, but the stuff at the bottom is all out of focus, and being out of focus, doesn't seem like it's a main subject at all, and therefor doesn't really seem to fit in with the photo at all. Also, I think I'd like to see different crops of this. The bright spot in the center of the shell is actually appealing to me in this case. normally I don't like bright spots, but I think it works here well. ~Heather~

The DOF is nice, and focus on the subject is nice. Background is not distracting at all, and lighting is good. I guess my only glitch is that it's not really something that I could sit and stare at for hours. Lacking on the excitement factor...but technically a very well done photo. ~Heather~

Definately beautiful texture. And a lot of it too. I love how it fills the frame, but I'm thinking the lighting could be better. See how it's bright in the upper right and dark in the lower left? I'd like to see it more uniform all around. Otherwise very nice for the challenge. ~Heather~

My first impression of this was that these were some kind of medicine bottles. Like insulin bottles, and the shot didn't make much sense to me. They look very small. However, I am thinking that these are bottles of water, which would then make sense.
the focus on the bottles is a bit soft. I really can't get any detail out of the bottles at all. I mean that by trying to read the words on the bottles.
Personally, I like the lighting. I like the way the shaddows are on the blue, it kind of looks like waves in the background as well. However, I think it puts a strange orangeish tan hue onthe bottles and that doesn't look appealing. If only we could get white bottles and the cool background, it would be a nice combination.
The sign seems off to me. Seems like one of the ends is suposed to go UP and not both going down. We do get the point though and this does fit the challenge nicely.
I'm wondering if the focus seems soft because of the lighting. This was handheld, wasn't it? I think that had a tripod been used, this could have come out nice and crisp.
Overall an interesting and creative take on the challenge

It's a good photo, but unfortunately has nothing to do with the challenge. Piece of advice...Don't be afraid to sit out for a challenge. Better to sit out then to be scored low for a good pic just cause it has absolutely nothing to do with the topic we're suposed to be shooting for.
As for the photo...it's nice. Great focus and lighting. I like that the fence is behind him a nd not in front of him. The expression is priceless...but honestly, for this challenge, I have to score it low. Sorry.

I guess I'm confused as to how this is considered Garage Art. In my opinion, that would be art...created in the garage. This doesn't appear to be anything that would normally be found in the garage (I hope) and it doesn't appear to be IN a garage. The shot is cute...sure, but just not right for this challenge.
As for the photo itself (trying to be helpful here) I think the face of the boy is too blurry, needs more focus, and I don't like the shadow on the boys face.

Obvious focus and clarity issues. Quite a small image, and there really is nothing at all in focus. Interesting thought for the challenge, but would prefer this to be sharper. I also think that the view UP the nose is a little distracting, would have positioned her face downward a bit.

That was for the other challenge. Should have submitted this in the "Chinese Zodiac" challenge. I think it fits better there, than it does here. As for the photo, nice and crisp, nothing distracting in the background, and interesting to look at, just not for this challenge, I don't think.
