Challenge: Zodiac (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Olympus C-3020Z
Location: Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA
Date: Jan 25, 2004
Date Uploaded: Jan 26, 2004

I know this is not the general zodiac that I the challenge references, so if my photo is disqualified, I will understand. However, it is still a "Zodiac" photo.

Anyhow, I took this photo in Chinatown during the New Year celebration. The sun was so bright, but the sky was overcast, leaving all of my photos with pure white backdrops. I did increase the contrast a little since the flag was a bit dim from being backlit.

I had submitted this photo before there was even a "Chinese Zodiac" challenge. So, originally, I thought I was just being creative, and stretching the challenge title: Zodiac.

However, it backfired on me as soon as the CZ challenge was added. Sadly, I didn't notice until after it was too late to unsubmit. Oh well, thanks for commenting and voting.

Thank those especially who left some constructive criticism about the photograph itself, helping me become a better photographer!

That was a different challenge!

Very nice color choices, although without the border your image may fall a little flat. Right now it looks very clean and appealing. and Gong hay fat choy, too. Although considering there's a Chinese zodiac challenge, it'd be nice if you followed the prescribed challenge here...

I'm tempted to say the boarder doesn't work, but don't dislike it. The colors are good in the Chinatown banner. I feel the whole shot is leaning and that does bother the eye. Anyway it's clear, clean and in focus. Good luck in the challenge.

this is nice shot. I really like the border but think it does not fit this particular challenge. There was a 48 hour speed challenge for the CZ.

The whited out background and fancy border are distracting.

They already had a challenge about the Chinese Zodiac - So speaking that a way this does not fit the challenge but I wont hold it against the picture :)

Don't care for the bright overpowering border.

That was for the other challenge. Should have submitted this in the "Chinese Zodiac" challenge. I think it fits better there, than it does here. As for the photo, nice and crisp, nothing distracting in the background, and interesting to look at, just not for this challenge, I don't think.
