Merry Kissmas!by karmatComment: A great idea, excelent use of negative space. Color is good. My only nitpick is that the lighting seems to be washing out the white tag. The edges aren't very distinct at all. I think that the lighting on the foil is good though, but just too bright for the white tag. Love the placement within the photo. bottom left is a great choice for this, with the tag leading toward the center of the shot. Your focus and clarity are really nice as well. Good luck in the challenge. |

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment: I might be getting picky here, but I with that the focus was just a TAD sharper on the bird. You have done a great job with the blurred background. It creates an atmosphere where the bird stands out nicely, and is not disturbed by anything in the background. I like how you have positioned the bird within the photo, and the stick is also positioned nicely. I wonder what kind of effect it would have on the photo if there were a bit more space in front of the bird, to make it look less like he was staring directly into a wall (edge of the photo). Somthing to try anyway. Good luck in the challenge. |

First Snowby BAMartinComment: I love it...2 inches of snow, and they are out there already!! We wait till there's like 3 FEET before we bother with the sled. LOL. I like the angle and framing/cropping you have chosen here. We are definately going downhill, definately a sled, definately snow. the picture if very clear here. focus is a tad soft on the people, however, that could be due to the fact that they might be moving, or that the camera is trying to focus on the snowflakes that are falling between the camera and the people. a very nice winter shot. Good luck in the challenge. |

City Abstractby JakComment: wow...interesting. maybe it's just the way I"m looking at the shot, but it seems a bit speckled. I think the frame goes very nicely with the photo, the additional color (orange) is a great touch. Not quite sure what the orange is, but it adds enough variation to the shot to give it some extra interest. Your focus and clarity seem good to me, and lighting also appears to have been cooperative for you. Good luck in the challenge. |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment: I love how the 2 faces are similar. Different, yet similar. The angle of the face in the background is nice. Nothing distracting. Very clear, well focused shot. Angle and framing/cropping are great. I like the darkness (lighting) of the man. I think that it adds a lot with the background lighting being lighter and the lighting on him being being darker. a nice contrast that way. Great portrait. Good luck in the challenge. |

Leading the Choirby crabappl3Comment: The focus on her blouse and arm are pretty good. The focus on her face and hair is not so good. A little soft for my tastes. The face emerging from her rear is a tad strange, and the strong horizontal line cutting right through her head is a distracting. Having said all that, I DO like the shot. It's a documentary kind of shot, and captures a moment very nicely. Some background adjustments, and had it been a bit sharpers around her eyes, this would be close to perfect. I like the angle and framing/cropping of the subject. And I think that lighting on the subject is very nice as well. Good luck in the challenge. |

BB'sby AnachroniteComment: Looks like bath beads. or paintballs. Look bigger than BB's, but that could just mean you got really really close. The focus and clarity are great. I love the color and the angle and framing/cropping are great. I like how you have filled the entire frame with the subject. That is really nice. Good luck in the challenge. |

Marcoby amonteforteComment: The focus and clarity of this shot is amazing. The textures in his shirt, hair and skin are wonderful. The lighting was quite cooperative for you for this shot. angle and framing/cropping are great, and I only have one nit pick. There are a few horizontal lines cutting through his head and body. they are a tad distracting but this is still a very wonderful shot of the subject. good luck in the challenge. |

Driftwoodby GraciousComment: Fascinating. I really love how you have us looking through the driftwood. Black and white is an excelent choice here. you have taken away an element (color) that could be distracting to the texture here, and have in turn brought out supurb textures. Angle and framing/cropping are great, and the subject is very interesting to look at. Great find. Good luck in the challenge. |

Happy Holidays!by timj351Comment: A very nice night shot. Very clear lights, great color, and the blacks are great as well. A very nice "shade" of black. The angle and framing/cropping are good, and the focus is very nice as well. Tripod, I assume. I especially like the tree to the right that has all the little 'twinkles'. Good luck in the challenge. |
