You have caught the expression of a choir mistress perfectly—we have all seen the grimacing and shooting of eyebrows—and the exaggerated lip movements of the choir mistress as she coaxes the choir to do its best! She is the main subject of you photo but you kept a member of the choir in to tell us what was happening and to show the result of her efforts.

The colour is correct and the contrast of the dress with the dark background is good and emphasises your subject. Your use of the noise reduction seems to have taken some of the detail out of the textures in your subject—it has given her an oddly artificial look as if moulded in plastic. The look is quite interesting and I would love to see the photo before and after the noise reduction. A good portrait with a good amount of humour and humanity.

She's into her job, eh? Without the title, I am not sure I would know what she was doing.

Perfect for the photojournalism challenge. She is so animated!

Great skin tones. The little bright spot behind her shoulder is kind of bothersome and does not help you. Nice human interest shot though.

She looks like she has the attitude of a day-after-thanksgiving shopper. Well captured emotion and action. The whole pic is a little bit dark though IMO - Inspzil

This is a nice portrait and the lighting and skin tones on your subject came out very well. The photo has a good candid quality to it, but I can't really find inspiration in this image as something with lasting impact... - setzler

Wow, is she ever animated! The focus seems a little soft on her face and I think I'd like it better if either more people were behind her or none (picky picky). 6

I love it! You caught this woman in such a strong expression and a dynamic pose. It's really well framed to bring your eye right up to her face. The photo seems a touch oversharpened, or maybe you did some noise removal on it, but that's only a minor flaw. It's loaded with personality, and I like that.

The expressionon her face really draws my attention. It's not the expression I would expect for a kids chior leader. It adds a lot of interest to the photo. The action seems to be in front of her, so I would have cropped this with more space in front of her and less behind. Good job of capturing her in action. You did a good job of not having the highlights get too hot on her white clothing, which is tough to do. Smellyfish1002

I DIDN'T LIKE THE PICTURE MUCH

The color, tone, and clarity of this shot is simply amazing. Very well done. Also, the expression on her face is hilarious. My only nit is that I think it would feel more balanced if she were further to the right in the frame, even if you had to crop part of her elbow off.

The focal point seems to be more on the shirt than the head area. The hair looks a little fuzzy. Not bad, though

Nice candid shot and I love the expression you caught. Nice timing. Maybe using a wider apeture would have blurred the background and made it a little less distracting. Overall a good shot.

Excellent capture, wonderful expression and use of DOF, focus seems to be on the white shirt instead of her face though. Maybe the hands could have been cropped off and therefore getting of the ear behind! The lighting is a bit yellow, creating a bit of a colour cast on her hair. Great candid!

Love the expression on this one, nicely timed candid. The positioning of the frame/crop helps add to the fact that she is looking out to the left of the camera. However, it looks as though something like NeatImage has been used, since it feels like the detail in the hair has been lost.

What note is she hitting? Has she seen this yet? You're dead when she does. This is great. Awesome shot. Couldn't get any better.

The focus on her blouse and arm are pretty good. The focus on her face and hair is not so good. A little soft for my tastes. The face emerging from her rear is a tad strange, and the strong horizontal line cutting right through her head is a distracting. Having said all that, I DO like the shot. It's a documentary kind of shot, and captures a moment very nicely. Some background adjustments, and had it been a bit sharpers around her eyes, this would be close to perfect. I like the angle and framing/cropping of the subject. And I think that lighting on the subject is very nice as well. Good luck in the challenge.

This is a true photojournalistic image! The expression, mood, and involvement are pricessless. Thechnically, I am very impressed with the use of available light, as well as the detail of the main subject, and the just right DOF. Congratulations!

This is a nice candid. = 6 Good capture of expression. The lighting makes the features very soft and the shot has a dark feel to it that is brightened by the stark contrast of the white shirt. The head in the lower right is a bit distracting but cropping that out would cause you to lose the womans hands.

Her red cheeks and the circle of white around the eyes give the face almost a mask like quality. The stark white of the shirt takes attention away from the face, which should be primary. the lightly clenched fist is interesting too.

Nice how the expression and body language is caught on the frame. The title and background explain what is going on. This is my favorite for this week. :-)
