Before FMby Bela45Comment: I really like the lighting with the emphasize on the wavelengths here. The color and toning makes it look really classic, the subject deserves it. |

A Weathered Toolby pcarpiComment: A bit soft, but it makes the scene and colors flow very nicely. Air becomes water becomes land becomes manmade object. The colors goe from deep blue to light yellow-orange in a very nice way.
The composition is nice but I guess that the scene lends itself for a nice and wide panorama (the lighthouse is relatively close to the side of the frame), something dpc is not yet well suited for. :( I like it how the rocks and land lead the viewer to the tower from the left to the right. The light in the lighthouse finishes it off. Is that the lighthouse its own light or a reflection from the sun in one of the mirrors? 7 |

Old sewing machineby nicklevyComment: Well, it still lacks a needle or you must have some magic trick to attatch those buttons to a fabric with that wire. :)
Overall great lighting but the shadow is a bit dark. A reflector opposite the light source may help to fill and soften it a bit. I've used whire cardboard, A4 white printing paper, wrinkled alu foil myself. Composition is good, but might look stronger in a 3:2 ratio. I say that because the left and right side are so close to the subjects that you'd expect a bit less space on top and at the bottom. 7 |

Dancing whiskby GinaRothfelsComment: Pastel-like soft colors, good lighting and interesting because of the way it shows movement. Nice work.

Air Driedby soupComment: I did something like this a year (or two) ago witg my old socks, but this is far better.
Strong composition, color and contrast. Nice DOF, good bokeh. Like it. |

A tribute to Thomas Edisonby GabrielComment: I just love this photo, the whole setup looks so classic. The B*W toning, the pushed-like exposure and good old film like grain is just great. I also think that it has a pretty strong composition with the lights guiding the viewer trough the frame, the view into the depth and some people in it to be able to judge sizes.

Soldiers of the Confederacyby sherComment: Seems like they lay on a hill? The invisable downward diagonal and the stones (cast iron/bronze?) getting smaller higher up creates a good sense of depth here. It is also nice that these are bright and that the next ones in the background are dark / in the shadow. The darker upper right is also in a nice parralel to the brighter lower 2/3 section.
For my taste the B&W toning is a bit too flat middle gray, on the otherhand that may just be fine with a graveyard. I'd also rather see this scene without the white thingies (to put a flower in?) next to them. Pull 'em out!
Nice work Sher, hope you win. :) |
