thank you for your nice comment on my photo! Yes, this whole place, Salton Sea, has a very weird, disquieting feel. Everything there, even this relatively new geothermal plant, show clear signs of decay. I don't know if you know it's history, it is fascinating. There is a nice documentary about it, Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea

Just a regular small LED flashlight. The trick is that I used Live Composite mode that as far as I know is only available in Olympus mirrorless cameras. It allows me to keep painting until I am happy with the result (I can see the progress on the camera's back screen or on my phone if I connect it wirelessly) while the background stays exactly the same and does not get any brighter. Very convenient mode for light painting. I just used it for fireworks, also piece of cake.

Cool shot Barry, congrats! I was afraid to make a tiny planet out of my 360 deg drone panorama of a Mormon church in this challenge as I thought it would cross the line for the Standard ruleset, I guess I was wrong )).

By the way, I was pretty sure that your shot was of DistantColours in the process of taking his shot for this challenge (19th place). The setting is incredibly similar!
