Great idea, poor execution. Here's my opinion: Composition wise, you could convey the whole message without the mailbox or the hands. Turnip could be a little more visible also. Hope this helps.

Unique concept - could be brighter and cropped or framed broader to show more - and/or wait for more of the ice to melt to have more of the tacks sticking out.

Unique, but not necessarily in a good way. What is with that background? IMO a better attempt would be to zoom in on a potion of the face covered with the tacks.
