After trying (and eating) 2 packages of Strawberries, I was going to bail on this.

Last minute - BINGO - went and got my hand REALLY dirty in the waste oil drainer, ran it around in the metal shavings from my brake lathe, popup flash, click.

Then had to go wash (I wear latex gloves so my hands never get like this) before PP.
15 minutes later, I was back to work, with gloves on - LOL.

I thought this was the single strongest image that did not feature faces in the challenge. Gritty, "real" and complete with enviable sharpness and focus. It's black and white, and metallic all at the same time.

Many congratulations, Brad! Love the high impact of this image, the sand on the hand looks almost like sandpaper.

This is dynamite, I love the high contrast and how the hand's texture complements the shavings. Definitely top ten at least.

Only someone who has been introduced in some way to the machinist's world can appreciate the feel and smells that come through this image. But even the tool making uninitiated can appreciate the fine photography skills used to capture this image. My top pick for this challenge and a favorite.

The metal filings and the timeworn hand work well together in this shot. It is perfect in black and white; I like the granular look to the pieces and the dropping of some off the right of the hand...8
