Week 5by chris48083Comment: I like the drama of portraits that have one side of the face darkened, and in this case the light on his right side is quite dramatic.
When you say you wish you had leveled it better, do you think it needs rotating? That's very easy to do in Photoshop. On your tool bar, there's a little crop tool, and when you drag to crop, if you put your cursor on one of the corners, you can rotate the photo before you click to crop and it will rotate it for you.
I like this alot, but I'm wondering if it were cropped closer to him on the right if it would look more professionally composed ??? To me there may be just a little too much negative space on the right of the picture. |

Sugarbeet Factoryby BAMartinComment: The building is so striking -- and the contrast and tones look so good I didn't even notice the dumpster.
I like the way the puddle in the foreground grounds the composition and adds interest. Thumbs up from me :)

Wk-4_B&W-Side-Challenge.jpgby twmaxComment: Well, I'm sure glad you didn't have something fresh and make us miss this one :) This is very cool. It looks so old-timey, which I love in photos! I bet it is a fun little street to stroll around on with all the art there.
Sharp as a tack too! Excellent! I am looking forward to seeing more of your stuff :) |

Chaosby Bruce_the_RobertComment: I love the painting quality to this. That with the angle make it very artistic and dramatic. I guess chaotic. . .but in a dreamy pretty way, if that makes sense. |

Week 4: The Entertainerby jasonlpriceComment: Oh Jason, this is so wonderful. Nothing like enhancing the radiant glow of a baby's beauty with this type of framing. You can't go wrong with this photo, but I actually am a pretty big fan of square crops, so may even give the edge to the square one. I'm so glad you're here. A great opening week photo :) Oh and No one's posted more than one yet, it just started last Saturday, so you are even with everyone. The only reaso a few are posting #4 is because it is the 4th week of the year, but we've only had Week 1 of the challenge. . .so you got in just in time :)
Can't wait to see more!

The Ladsby RetroesqueComment: What I like about it is that it has such a strong urban feel, yet its a bold fill-the-frame close-up. So often urban scenes are expansive and have so much "stuff" in them, but this is direct and straight to the point. I like it. I like it that we're looking at them from behind -- like we're part of the scene but not intruding.
Nice job.

Week 4 - Stairwayby wickee_oneComment: Very nice, Amanda! I love the ange, and that winding staircase adds so much interest. I really like the way it's processed too showing such rich tones and that turbulent sky.

The River - monoby dainmcgowanComment: How beautiful! There's so much to look at but composed so perfectly that it doesn't look too busy at all. The exposure is perfect showing the lights and the whites without a trace of blow-out. Wow! This is awesome.
