The Lone Leafby MontereykiddoComment: this is an interesting composition that i feel would be stronger without the stem. the bokeh is nice and well-rendered, contributing a smooth background for your leaf. good work! |

Leafby gaurawaComment: i'm not quite sure what to make of your entry; it isn't really moving me. i think that your bokeh is a bit too strong and the shape of the leaf is a bit disconcerting. on one hand, you have proven to yourself that you can capture a bokeh effect; now what you need to do put it to work to enhance your images. |

Warm and smoothby parrotheadComment: i like your idea, and hope that you will revisit it after the challenge. as for this entry, i think the execution falls short and is not really doing what you want it to. the focus is a bit soft, and the bokeh is too distracting. actually, you have three background elements competing with each other as opposed to acting in support of your subject. the glass behind the pitcher really needs to go, as do the lights back next to the window, as does the window, for that matter. to get the viewer's attention, you need to reduce the visual clutter that doesn't contribute. it also appears that you could use a bit more liquid in the decanter. hope this helps. |

Crystal Glowby Kathryn8Comment: overall this is a nice image that meets the challenge well. you could have done without the lights in the top right--they are more of a distraction than an enhancement to your image. good job! |

hekobokehby LevTComment: very interesting image. i think you are on the right track, and that this image has a lot of promise. with a subject that small, it really needs to knock the viewer's socks off when the image is this large; unfortunately, there are so many other elements in the image competing for attention that your single droplet starts to lose its strength. with such very strong bokeh all the way through, you could actually crop this image in half and have something that absolutely rocked. try it: hold your left hand up to cover the whole left half of the image and you'll see what i mean. anyways, this is good work. good luck! |

Untitled Bokehby Rook3000Comment: this is a strange composition, the juxtaposition of the oriental carving and the mystic bokeh. here, the bokeh is as much the subject as is the carving, as opposed to being a subtle enhancer. you are on the right track, i just think the image would have been a bit stronger if the dots of light were muted a bit. also, the proximity to the carving and the way it fills the left side of the frame also gives a feeling of invasion of personal space, as if it's too close to me, or i'm too close to it. neither really works well if you are trying to convey a sense of meditation. |

Knife or Death?by shutterflyComment: interesting take on the challenge. yes, you have created a bokeh effect, but, for me, it really isn't enhancing the subject. the blowouts in the liquid catch my eye first, then the effect of the selective desat is to take my eye straight down the image to the drop. the way this is composed, it makes the viewing more of a rushed trip than a journey. maybe that is what you intended. i like the balance between the light and dark sides of the blade. as far as images go, this is fine; as for the challenge, i don't think this is the best your could have done for an entry. |

Alone in a Crowdby sgauriaComment: this is an interesting image. on one hand, i like it. on the other, i don't like whatever it is you did to achieve your bokeh. it has a very "processed" feel to it. even if you managed to do this in camera, it doesn't feel right. the composition is incredible, as are the colors. good luck! |

Fun in the Snowby KneeforuComment: nice capture. this would have done well in candid. here, for me, the bokeh is a bit too busy, providing more of a distraction than an enhancement. i like the colors, and the sparkles in her hat really bring a lot to the image. good luck! |
