this is an interesting shot that could be even more interesting with more detail in the drop. on the other hand, working with droplets is a major PITA, so kudos for that. you have achieved a nice bokeh effect, i just think that there is too, too much dead space in the image as a whole. you could easily do without the left 25% of the image (hold your hand up to the image, and you'll see what i mean). it could also stand to lose a bit off the top. aside from that, this is pleasant image. good luck!

sorry if the following comes across harsh, but i call 'em as i see 'em. this is really a bad snapshot. the focus is on the drum, but unfortunately, you have shot from an angle doesn't make it very interesting. this could be done, keeping the short dof, but not from this angle. the drummer seems to be "just there", not really doing anything. as for the challenge, the blurriness here does not translate into bokeh.

interesting image, though i'm not sure i'd consider that background bokeh. and it's not that i'm looking for blobs of light--i'm just looking for backgrounds that enhance the subject and contribute to the image without distraction. here, the background practically commands the image, inspite of the razor-sharp focus.

this is not what i'd really call a "challenge entry". you have shot a less than interesting subject dead-on center. the lighting looks under control, and the image is sharp enough under these conditions to indicate that you can do better...you just need to work on composition. keep in mind, not every image is going to appeal to every viewer; the key is, though, to create images that will give people more reasons to want to look at them than to just pass them by. and, when it comes to challenges, well, read scalvert's thread about the recipe for ribboning...

Shell on the Beach

yes, you have captured an image of a shell on the beach, a very, very empty beach, at that. while the background helps accentuate the emptyness of the beach, it is not what i would really consider a bokeh effect.

Strange Fruit

strange indeed. i am always curious when i see shots like this, as to why i don't take more risk. i mean, really, to take a perfectly innocent piece of fruit and to run it through with 15-20 nails, then to shoot a macro with a blurry background. keeping in mind that bokeh contributes and enhances, i'm not sure it that's happening here, but i don't think it really matters.
