yes, you have captured an image of a shell on the beach, a very, very empty beach, at that. while the background helps accentuate the emptyness of the beach, it is not what i would really consider a bokeh effect.

A stunning shot of great simplicity

It´s not a bad shot, good composition but I think this would look much better about 1 stop less exposed. However, it´s IMO not on topic for this challenge since there is no Bokeh.

a nice shot in itself, but i dont feel that the background really makes this shot happer. perhaps an even shallower DOF would help?

One of the elements of bokeh is a relatively shallow DOF, in order to make the subject stand out from the background. Sorry but it isn't apparent in this image.

Would have been better without the blownout sky and water. There's also noticable barrel distortion (curved horizon).

Nice idea and technically its a nice shot.
I like how the ocean is the Bokeh, it really emphasises the relationship between the two.
My only beef would be with the composition, I think it would be better to have the shell a little closer to the beach so you can have more of an impact from the ocean/sea.
Good job.

The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Not really seeing that here. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? In my mind this doesn't fit the challenge. Nice photo, though seems to be a bit overexposed.

this is very nice image
but unfortuinality i feel that the DoF isn't as shallow as it needs to be for boken affect too be seen.
putting the cam. into macro mode(or having shot w/macro lens) would have helped

DOF isnt shallow enough here. If you had gotten closer to the shell and maybe had the bright sand in the background be your bokeh, it could have worked better.
