Close up on the grit side without the back would have worked much better for me. The colors could have worked very well, but my eye keeps returning to 'read' about texture instead of seeing it. But that's just me :)

The focus came out too soft. I double checked on different monitors to be sure it wasn't me. You might have wanted to come in closer on it. The chair leg in the upper left didn't help either. On an unrelated note, If I saw this at a yard sale, I'd snap it up in a minute...

Thanks Journey. All of my votes needed reworking after adjusting the calibration on my monitor. And I started liking my own shot less... I should have pushed the saturation higher I think.

JMSetzler, I tried it vertical, but my wife pointed out that it resembled a, ummm, welll, part of the female anatomy...

There's a lot of potential texture here, but the vast majority is out of focus. If you intended this, it didn't work for me... The angle and perspective are interesting. You definitely have a different way of looking at things and that is refreshing here (it's a talent I wish I had)... But you might want to try this exact shot again with greater dof and see if you like it better. But that's just me :)

Nice color, interesting subjet, but the crop seems either too tight or not tight enough. The cut off corners of the triangle kept pulling my eye off the edge. I 'think' I would have liked a very tight shot of the flaw alone better. But that's just me :)

I'm a big fan of 'soft focus' and I understand it is sometimes used on purpose and folks don't get it... But this shot loses alot from the soft focus. For the texture to leap out, you 'need' the sharpest focus you could get. Of course, that's just me :) Great idea/
