I gave you an eight on the superb photography with lovely tones, but be advised that I see nothing here that belongs specifically to Feb. lol |

The Great Smoky Mountainsby DougPazComment: from the critique club:
A very difficult image to capture and in a scale of 1 to 10 you get an 8. The quality of this shooting is dependent on the strength of the sun and the opaqueness of the clouds. These variations change the contrast swing in these images. Many people miss the point with these images because they expect to see just a little more contrast, but when they stand physically at this vantage point, there is only a serene vastness with no eye squinting. It is like shooting on a cloudy day. I even named my implied lines, "cloudy day" and they asked me for more contrast. lol
The image is certainly a very good visual. There is a sense of depth and an acute sense of distance. The only minor item that breaks the spell is the white trail at the very top and to the right of the image.
The eye sweeps up and finds the left perfect but as the eyes travel towards the right it is jolted from the serene state. I suggest that after the use of any tool that the image be brought up tp 300 for close examination. here I would have simply cloned the area smooth.
But, even with this tiny flaw the image is lovely to look at because the image has enough interest to charm the viewer. You did a veru nice job. |

Creepyby kennytComment: From the critique club:
I had the pleasure to learn a particular detail of this beautiful image. It was taken through a glass! A warm thank you to the glass cleaners, you did a good job and made this interesting capture possible.
The composition and the cropping are on the money. The eye of the snake at the comfortable upper third of the image. The color gives off that cold feel of the subject and the lighter green help contain the chill.
This is a subject that is not to everybody's liking, but the tranquil nature of this specimen has that primal feel as a mythological symbol of the infamous serpent.
Since this was shot with available light we will not even discuss the desire for a smaller aperture to increase the dof. You did well in managing the 1/26 of a sec. Overall, the focus on the head is on the money and the image, exactly as is, has enough strength to attract and please the viewer.
The 5.8+ tells you that the image is worth its salt and one to enhance your port. Looking forward to your next effort. |

crater floorby whiteroomComment: If I say just a slightly softer lighting would avoid the blow out at the terminal knobs we will move on to all that is positive and good about this image.
The overall look is commendable and the colors great for this type of subject. The image brings out the subject matter in good form and the blue, white, black and red compresses the color spectrum thereby simplying the intent of the image which is to show approbation for a very good product and its great hidden implication of the way the audio signal is converted into sound waves to entertain our ears and senses. Its final end is hearing the music.
From the critique club:
The image has met the challenge and the score 5.5+ attest to its viability. To some this subject matter is not at all a factor because many place no importance on the art of music reproduction. However, those that do found more meaning in the image.
To conclude: outside of the minor hot spots on the negative and positive terminals, the image has been very well presented and you were wise to incorporate the window reflection to add more interest. A very good effort. |
