I don't know why, and I really refrained from saying anything this week, but I was just positive this was your photo, Lisae. Isn't it wierd the way intuition works? I just KNEW it was you....never met you, never spoken to you, never had any contact with you outside of dp. Bizarre!

The pattern in this shot is excellent. I really wish the pencil that's about halfway down did not stand out so much. It's a little distracting and takes away from the blue pencil.

A darker background would have let you have more direct light on the fan (bring the whites up more) and would have made everything stand out in general. Nice shot!

I enjoy this shot but I think the background color is somewhat distracting. Don't get me wrong -- I'm a fan of backgrounds. But the color of this one is just too similar to the yellow pencil...I think it detracts from the focus of the shot. muckpond

Great shot....excellent focus and DOF. This is a really nice (and different!) take on the pencil challenge: simple, and (hopefully) just about everyone who was ever in elementrary school will know what it is. Don't you remember the way the pencil sharpener smelled when you took it off to empty it? Love that.... muckpond

Excellent lighting and composition. I can't believe more people didn't go here with the challenge -- it was the first thing I thought of. I ended up going a different way because I thought too many people would do this! Way to stand out!

Great concept. If there had been a way to lessen the real shadows I wonder if that would have helped? I love this picture.

I really like this idea and it's a great macro shot with good shadows and not a lot of glare (glare on the ferrules was the biggest problem in my photo!).

This would be better, I think, if the colors were more pronounced so that it's not so washed out. Or grayscaled? That might make for an interesting shot as well. muckpond
