Leaving the Carcass

OK - I guess trying something a little different did not work here. I know the "rule" of space in front of the subject. Figured this one deserved to break the rule since this bird was leterally "leaving the carcass" and it was a cahllenge concerning minimalism. Oh well, maybew next time. Thanks for the comments and a relativly good score considering the plainness of my shot.

This shot should have scored much higher. Although I agree it could have been improved upon some by sharper eyes and trying to tone down the blown out areas it still is a beautiful portrait. I bet the Mom was very proud.

Thanks for all the comments and nice things you had to say. Spent about 2 hours standing about 10 feet from the feeder on my deck and took about 20 shots to get this. The sun angle just was not right for me to get him from the front with his red throat without having my house in the background instead of the beautiful blus sky that day. Thanks again to all.

coolhar - nice shot. I like the soft colors and reflection. Even with the rain it looks like the white overexposed a bit. I have had luck compensating on white birds at about - 1.3 to -2.0 depending on light. The added advantage is it increases your shutter speed if you are shooting in aperture priority.
