Study Hallby alanfreedComment: This photo gives a great sense of scale and depth. Excellent work. Some blown out highlights but the immense nature of the photo overpowers that. One of my favorites. :o) |

Canadian Gooseby pmichaudComment: Howdy from the Critique Club, Patsy! :o)
This is a lovely image. I think you've got a good eye for composition and detail. The previous commenters hit on a couple of things I am inclined to agree with, namely the lack of crisp detail in the black feathers and the eye, which is what I would consider to be the focal point of the image. The background bokeh, which is nice and smooth, doesn't necessarily have the points of light others have spoken about. I found myself not entering bokeh because of all the interpretations of what it was or wasn't. I would consider the background in your image as bokeh, but not really strong, good bokeh, since some of the color variations and patterns become a little distracting rather than blending in to a more seamless background (if that makes sense). The colors are nice and muted, which is pleasing and fits the subject well. I think it's a good picture, which scored in the mid 5s, so I'm not the only one who finds it to be good.
Overall, there are some high points and points upon which improvements can be made. I wish you all the best in future challenges. If you have any questions or comments, you know you can always PM me!
Take care,
Laurie

Brooklyn Bridge by JPRComment: If this doesn't ribbon, there is no photography deity in this universe. This is far and away one of the best architectural studies I've seen. This is amazing. :o) |

Reason NOT to use the low bidder!by mfairbanksComment: Vibrant colors and interesting subject. I think this could have been a bit more effective at a different time of day, when the sun wasn't creating such harsh shadows on the snow and the front of the building. A boost of saturations to bring the color out a bit more, and a crop that has less foreground could make this image stronger, IMHO. Interesting find! :O) |

Desert Southwest Stoneby tfarrell23Comment: If the sky were not blown out and grey, this would be 100% stronger. As it is, I wish there were a lot less sky and a lot more ground/wall/building in the foreground. Any bright areas like the sky will bring the eye to them immediately, distracting them from the actual subject. Keep shooting and experimenting, and be patient with weather and sky shots. They will happen eventually! This builidng with a beautiful blue sky and white puffy clouds will be most excellent! :o) |

Basilicaby rileyComment: I really wish to see the top of the building. Contrast needs to be boosted, the image is quite flat and washed out. Has a lot of potential, keep fiddling with it. :o) |
