dark bloomingsby electinaComment: Unusual viewpoint. Good clarity and sharpness; colors seem muted but probably intentionally when referring to the title. Composition is a bit cramped; would like to not have the edges of the petals chopped off by the edge of the frame. |

Placid Serenityby shutterflyComment: This is quite beautiful. I love the soft "glow" look. Good color. I'd suggest (not in a challenge) adding a more interesting sky or changing the color of it a bit, as the whiteness of it is a bit distracting. I know how hard grey skies are to capture. Good luck in the challenge. :) |

An Uplifting Morningby freakin_hilariousComment: Neat place for a photograph! Nice composition, good sharpness and clarity. Colors seem a bit flat on my monitor. Good luck in the challenge. :) |

Old Rag Mountainby npageComment: I bet this is a lovely place to see in person. The image has a good composition, with several layers leading the eye through it. The colors seem a bit dull, maybe some contrast or saturation might increase the "pop." Good luck in the challenge. :) |

Little wooden pierby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: Gorgeous scene...lovely reflection in the water. Great composition. The image appears to have a slight blue cast; perhaps bringing down the blue curve a tiny bit might make the other colors pop out a bit more. :) |

cokeby whiterookComment: OK, I have to admit I'm a bit at a loss for words, which is completely foreign to me. ;) I always think of free studies as opportunities to show your best work, regardless of theme...but I find it difficult to believe this is the best image you have shot in a month. The randomness and spontaneous nature of shots like this can work sometimes, but this time, I think it's working against you. This image lacks focus, color adjustment (white balance is off), and a clear focal point. Of course, I don't know the back story or why this image is important to you, and if I did, then I might have a different perspective and understand your motive as a photographer a bit better. What exactly are you communicating to the viewers with this image? What do you want people to see, feel, hear, smell, taste? Maybe I'm overly analytical...or maybe I'm just blind. |

Laundromatby bragurComment: Interesting capture...love the green tint to the image. I might suggest cropping out some or all of the ceiling, because that light is quite a distraction. Without the ceiling, the model's eyes draw the viewer in first instead of the white light. :) |

Washed in the Bloodby jmsetzlerComment: What an interesting, wise-looking man. Great capture; really like the processing. His skin texture is amazing. Very introspective. :) |

Hungry Monarchby jerryc12Comment: Very pretty! Light seems a bit harsh and a bit too contrasty on my monitor, which gives the illusion of oversharpening. I know this monitor at work is not the best on the planet so I can't fault you for it! ;) Beautiful composition. :) |
