Strike Up the Band!by TranquilComment: a great playful shot. good representation of full tonal range without making things look blown out. |

Tributeby PanoComment: reminiscent in some ways of heida's "dark land"
oversharpening on the figure really detracts from this image--this problem is easily avoidable by duplicating the layer to be sharpened, and then masking off/erasing the figure. |

Out of the Darkby thomaspeopleComment: this is more "low key" than "high contrast" - where are the whites?
[post-challenge, I see that this is the only one of the many comments on this picture that you did not consider helpful. how lovely.] Message edited by author 2005-09-13 21:08:10. |

Shocked!by ManicComment: I think that more of the image needs to be in better focus. Having the primary focal point so close to the bottom of the frame is generally not recommended. [how this comment is, somehow, the only one out of all the comments on this photo NOT considered helpful is beyond me. it is direct and substantive, yet apparently worthless to you.]
EDIT BY MANIC: because you completely missed the point of the photo, that's why :o) Message edited by Manic - reply. |

Electric acousticby rjhodderComment: great angle, and very effective use of negative space. the oranges and reds are lovely. I wish the glare from the light weren't visible. A polarizer might have helped cut down on the reflections from the room |

natures entryby p2jvrComment: The higher end of the tonal spectrum is well represented here, but I don't actually see any blacks in the photo. For this challenge, I think that the full tonal range from black to white needs to be shown. |

A Bride's Secretby JudiComment: I just found this image, seeing it for the first time after the challenge ended. This was one of my three highest scoring images in the challenge! I was all geared up to see it on the front page, and I'm amazed it didn't make the top 10! Highly underrated... I really liked the subtle humor and playfulness of this image, pulled off with excellent lighting and focus. |

Bareby LevTComment: wonderful colors and shapes. of course there are many photographs in this challenge that demonstrate a similar approach, but yours is the best I've seen so far. |

Linville River Branchby ShuttermonkeyComment: I think this could have used a bit more black/dark grey, as it looks a little washed out right now. It should be easy to fix if you choose to do so. Still, this is a very pleasing image, and I'm sure you had to walk a good ways to get it! 7 |
