Farmers Hit Hard as Economic Woes Deepen by noranekoComment: This image, due to fine processing, could have been taken in the 1930's American Dust Bowl. However the headline came to be attached to the photo, it's timely and heartbreaking. As this transpires, I imagine I can hear the champagne flutes clinking in the house upon the hill. To write the op ed, so pardon me. Anyway, it's a very handsome photo |

Venice flooded again by MargaretNetComment: It's great to match what I've read to the actual phenomenon. It's serious stuff, but you've managed to find the fairy tale version. I'm in awe of how it plays out in this particular scene. Beautiful blues, pinks, tans and yellows. Nice handling of the buildings and their reflections.
Personal second favorite of the challenge. |

Shanghai Braces for Record-Breaking Smog in the Days Ahead by LevTComment: A real news event photographed beautifully. It's structured in such a way as to suggest a phalanx of massive buildings opposing nature. And, no way. The palette is perfect, somber, drab even. The receding immense spread is superb.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |

Colored Patterns 2by efaulkComment: Very interesting pattern. It reminds me of the overlapping scales of fish and butterflies, in macro. I'm especially drawn to the transition of blue to orange, or vice versa. |

IMG_9649B resized 1200by rozComment: Cute pose. Looks like a sweet dog. And I like the disposition of the large blocks of color. On the right, is that a flying saucer landing on your lawn? No wonder the pooch seems concerned. |

1…2…3…by GeneralEComment: I took this to be 1) small dinosaur under a tree 2) big, ferocious dinosaur comes along 3) tree alone, and here comes the inference -- the big, ferocious dinosaur has eaten the small one, which is why it's, uh, funny. And a story. Other interpretations are viable, like the small dinosaur ran away, or it's a different time, or a different tree, etc. Any other takes on this? |

1…2…3…by GeneralEComment: Now here's a story! Very clever and funny, and all the more impressive for it's seeming simplicity. The images, lighting and color, are really well done. |

"Under the bed, Woody!" by LydiaComment: Well done, and brings back the mood of the movies. The hat flying off Woody's head gives the image real dimension. |
