I think the shot would have worked better from a technical standpoint had the foreground (the child) been much more sharply in focus and the background much more blurred, and it also seems to be a bit underexposed. It might also work better in black and white. |

Fall in the Desertby moonwolfComment: This shot is kind of blurry, even the foreground tree, which I assume you meant to have in focus. The sky looks noisy and the background mountain is too dark. Sorry for the negative assessment..... |

At Anchorby BudComment: From what I've seen of the entries in the "Best of" challenge so far (about halfway through voting on them), this would have received a 10 from me and been up in the stratosphere with only one or two other shots. Absolutely gorgeous!! |

What's the point?by gajmajComment: One of my favorites so far, and I'm not even sure it's bokeh in terms of the way the word is being defined in the forums. But the out-of-focus background certainly enhances the subject of the photo, so I'm giving this at least a 7 and may come back to bump up later.

Out of the Thicket by BeagleboyComment: I have tried so to get a decent picture of these pretty birds -- very difficult due to their black and white feathers. You pulled it off beautifully, and even got a tiny glint in the eye. The branch is perfectly lit and in focus, and I like the blurred branches in the background. Very nice! |
