GunnsiComment: Hi Gunnsi, Congrats for beating Croatia in the Brazil game, here is my critique on one of your (outstanding!) photos.
Well first, I wanted to comment on the original, but noticed that there were several things you wanted to improve on it, and I can see that you have certainly done so here.
For a start, for me the shadow is much more distinct and obvious. This probably has a lot to do with the b/g choice, although I guess the different lighting method also helps. While this type of b/g is somewhat of a cliche here on dpc, it forms only a part of the photo, and really adds to it.
I agree with another comment that the sticks should maybe be left out from the drink (unless they're needed for the shadow, of course). To some extent, they distract a little - the white/red refraction (?) in the glass would look much more effective I think.
Finally, there are a few areas of glare on the glass, although I"m not at all bothered by them. Perhaps you could use a softbox next time (in take 3?), but it doesn't bother me much at all.
Overall, this is obviously a good photo, and you know that. Thanks for sharing it!
