Distant Dreamsby elsapoComment: Both shots are really excellent. I think I actually prefer the lighting in this one. I do like the gaze directly into the camera on your entry, however - so it's a toss up. I'd like to see a close up without quite so heavy eye make up. |

Sidelongby TranquilComment: This was the best of your series I think. For me, the reason has mostly to do with the lighting of the face and the eyes. I think in a portrait the eyes are so important. This has a nice, natural feel to it, and the emphasis is on her face. Very nice job. |

Dan and Reneeby TranquilComment: This is a nice portrait. The lightness of her shirt is a little distracting since most of the shot is rather dark. The lighting is pretty good, although I think maybe just a little harsh. I would also like to see the tones warmed up just a bit. Those are all minor things, but hopefully will be of some help for you. Nice job with not overexposing things and getting fairly even lighting. |

Nature's Melting Potby SJCarterComment: Wonderful job on this one. I would like to see a little more dodge/burn to add some interest to the lighting, but 7 out of 200 tells me that it's certainly great the way it is as well. This one would make a nice print. |

Luna Mothby SJCarterComment: I thought I had already commented on this one a long time ago...but I don't see it.
This is, I think, my very favorite of your shots. For just a slightly processed, great-out-of-the-camera shot...this one is it. Composition and crop are thoughtful and very appealing. I love the diagonal. Focus, colors, and textures are all spot on. You've really made this into a first rate nature shot, bringing out the beauty of the creature. |

Old and Newby TeeQComment: The depth of field adds just a bit of interest to this shot. Other than that, I think more attention needs to be paid to some of the other elements. The lighting is rather harsh with the shadow. If possible, bouncing the flash might work better for lighting. I think paying a little more attention to the background might make it look a little less like a quick snapshot. The wall and baseboard, alongside the darkness of the floor, really don't showcase the subject very well. Little things, like the design on the socks, can detract from the attention you want on your subject. Again, just my .02, but I do hope you find it somewhat helpful. |

Fisherman's Taxiby TeeQComment: A boat on the water can be a great photo with a little creativity. In my opinion, this one needs a little more interest by changing the composition to a less centered arrangement, working a little bit with the levels to boost the contrast and perhaps the color saturation, and nailing the focus just a bit more. (It may just look a little soft due to the lack of contrast.) I also think it might have more interest if there was some way to bring more attention to the reflection of the boat. Just my .02 and I hope it is helpful. |

Old One-Room Schoolhouseby christie3Comment: Great shot for the challenge. I'm a big fan of contrast, so I probably would have bumped the contrast a bit. Other than that, I really like the subject, the framing of it with the foreground and the tree, and the overall composition. Great job! |

24kby SJCarterComment: I like this idea and the golden tones, but the overall photo looks a bit fuzzy to me. I'd like to see this with more clarity. Looks like a great spot to sit and shoot different compositions. |

Greyledgeby SJCarterComment: What a beautiful spot. The colors just grab the viewer here. It just has that feel of one of those perfectly clear days when you can see just about forever. I love the clarity and simple lines here. I might be tempted to see how it would look with cloning out the branches in the upper right. |
