Almost...by good_hamComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Hey! You hoped for a 3+ and you doubled that +. Not bad for your first entry in DPC. I'm pleased for you and very pleased to have the chance to look at your image.
Obviously, many DPC voters liked it, and I'm no exception. Great colors and certainly this is symmetrical enough to absolutely ace the Challenge category. I really don't have anything here to 'critique' so I'll just say "well done" and go on to the next image in the queue.
Keep 'em coming. |

Love your work, noraneko. You're my kind of photographer.
Okay, to work. Not there there is much work to do on this delicate, delightful image. It's a pattern shot with a little extra work by you to keep our attention on the photograph. Not too blurry, just enough to keep us centered on the frond you accentuate.
The voters appreciated your art in this tough scoring Challenge and I appreciate it too.
Keep 'em coming! |

I always like to see these circular, symmetrical images when they show up on DPC. Yours is no exception. You've given us an interesting design, and it was photographed beautifully. Lovely colors.
This very well done image finished in the upper stratosphere of this tough Challenge. I have no "critique" to give of this fine image, so I'll simply say congratulations on both your entry and your score.
Keep up the good work. (And enter more often!) |

Blue Glass Office Buildingby joecicconeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Welcome to DPC. I see this is just your third entry at this site and your scores are going up! Great.
For a candid shot, you have a good one. Love the greens against the good blue of the sky. The voters liked your image a lot as well, forgiving you for the light streak at the right side of the picture. As one of your commenters said, your image would work just as well cropping that light streak out.
I'll say congratulations on a very good find, and quite good execution considering the fact that you were shooting through your car's windshield at a traffic light.
And keep those Challenge entries coming... |

Clematis: Symmetry 2X Concentricby 777STANComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Lovely clematis. You found one in great shape and photographed it well. I will say it is pretty well saturated, and I sure wouldn't want to see it any more saturated.
:-))
But I will suggest that the depth of field might have been a little more shallow to afford more background blurring. The twigs and greenery behind the beautiful flower are a distraction, but had they been blurred out a bit, they would have offered a nice, colorful foil to the flower. Of course, that's just my take on it...
You have a nice image here, one that I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to look at more closely.

Holy symmetriesby Rino63Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
LOVE your title! Like you image a lot as well.
That's the thing about churches; no tripods, no flashs, just you and your camera. With any luck there's a bench or pew nearby for a resting place. If not, well, it's "hold your breath" time and hope for the best. You must have champion ability in holding your breath, because this image is tack-sharp. The people are in great focus along with the architecture.
Your post processing is splendid and I am delighted to gaze on the colors. You received a respectable score, but not a great one. I can only imagine that is because our voters were hurried and simply didn't appreciate the beauty that is in this image.
I for one, am glad to have had the chance to look at it carefully. Keep up the good work. |

Belly Balanceby aaronwaveComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Great find for the Symmetry Challenge.
I very much like your ocmposition with the two girls dancing nicely in front of the stone wall. I do wish you had been lucky enough to get the feet of the dancers. that might have cost you some votes...
technically, if it was mine, I'd try for some darker darks along with the good grays and near whites you have here. I think it would make the image 'pop' a bit more.
In any event, you found a good example of symmetry and presented it nicely. |

Hello! You clicked the button for a CC comment, and I'm pleased to oblige.
I expect you got exactly what you wanted in this image and had fun doing it. Since that's the object of participation in DPC I'll say congratulations on meeting your goal.
Keep 'em coming, if you like. Your art is fun to look at and may you continue to pursue your goal of lots of 'last place' endings. |

Close Encountersby GeocideComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Great find! I don't know much about mathematics, but somehow I feel sure this has something to do with Pi!
What I do know is that I think it's just fine technically, and compositionally, it fairly leaps out of the screen at me. I very much like the little ellipse in the middle. I don't know your reason for putting the large ellipse off center vertically, but it works for me. (Although it didn't for some of our voters) You received a respectable score, in this tough Challenge and you have an image that you can enjoy.
Keep up the good work. |

Welcome to DPC. Glad to see you parcipating to regularly. It's the best way to learn!
This image has been well critiqued all ready. If you follow taterbug's advice you will have an excellent image when you are done. (And it doesn't hurt to redo a Challenge entry, if you think you can do it better.)
I'll add just one more comment about your image. (well, maybe two). The title is terrific! Then, if it was mine, I'd be a bit more careful in the carving of the symbol. Because it is the star of the show, it should be absolutely beautiful with sure & true knife lines.
Again, welcome to DPC. I'll look forward to seeing more of your work in future Challenges. |
