| 06/22/2004 10:22:24 AM | RT and dogsby undieyatchComment: This is a nice shot of RT and his dogs but the post processing looks like it got a bit messy, as I'm sure you have probably heard. There is so much chaos surrounding RT that it really distracts from the subjects. Maybe if RT was kneeling on the grass with his dogs and you just left his jeans or maybe the dogs, okay, not the black one, that would be an excerise in futility :) But you could bring the cropping in tighter if he was kneeling, taking out the trees in the back, they are more distracting to me, making RT and the dogs the main focus of the shot. A 4 as is |
| 06/22/2004 10:19:17 AM | Baby's got blue eyesby johnmComment: This is a wonderful shot of mom and baby, the expressions are priceless and the post processing is wonderful, but I don't really feel a lot of desaturation in this shot, some muting of colors but no real removing. If you hjust left the baby's eyes and desaturated the rest of the shot, with good contrasting black and white points this could have been a top 10 easily. A 7 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/22/2004 10:16:54 AM | Battling the wavesby pitsamanComment: This is an interesting shot, the DOF is well done but the desaturation leaves me really wanting. It looks like you just went for the waves in front, leaving the top portion of the shot in color and to me it looks like any other shot of a sailboat on the ocean. If you had isolated just the sail and had good black and white points (the waves in the front are prefect for the white, the horizon like would probably make a good black point) I think this shot would do much better. Also just a slightly tighter crop on the sides and bottom, taking out the Out of focus waves and some of the distracting ocean. If you do play with this shot, I would love to see the results! | 06/22/2004 10:12:13 AM | Atrium #2by RasaiComment: This shot has a lot of potential but as it is right now, it leaves me wanting more. There are so many colors left in the shot that as far as I can see, only the floor has been desaturated and that's fine but there is no balance in the shot to me. If you had just left the blues on the plants on the left or just the orange of the trunk of the tree I think this shot would really pop. Also the focus is wanting, especially around the top of the tree. I like the curve of the ceiling around the tree but the angle, again, left me wanting. Maybe if you came at it more head on, centering the U shape rather than coming from the side? If you play with this shot at all, taking the colors out, leaving just the blues or orange, I would love to see it. As is, a 3, sorry ;( | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/22/2004 10:08:49 AM | Hanging Onby TerryGeeComment: This is a wonderful capture of a dragonfly but there is still quite a bit about this shot that leaves me wanting. The motion blur on the tail and far wing is a bit distracting, as if you could actually get him to sit still, LOL. The branch, it seems to me, should be all in focus, the top part being out of focus is very distracting and I know the background is probably water, I'm guessing from the reflections but it seems a bit bright and takes away from the main subject. If there was a way to tone down the whites and light grays in the back and bring the contrast up on the dragonfly just a bit would really make this a killer shot to me. I started with a 3 but realize after taking more time to look it should be a 6. |
| 06/22/2004 10:05:31 AM | Fascinatingby JackoComment: Did she/he try to pick up the ladybug and eat it? I love this, what a wonderful capture, a special moment caught forever. The colors on the ladybug could be just a touch more vibrant but this still deserves a 10 | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 06/22/2004 10:02:49 AM | . . . Ladybugby ladpupmoeComment: Perfect. I love the clarity, the colors, only one thing I see, is that your reflection on the back of the ladybug? ;) Still a 10, excellent! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
