Shutter: 1/60 sec.

My two favorite photography subjects: Samuel and Bugs. It was Fathers' Day so Isabelle let me put a bug on the kitchen floor.

This turned out pretty good. My first entry with my Canon 50mm F1.4. I desaturated the whole pic , then used the history brush to re-instate the color on the bug.

My only regret is that this is a pretty good sized crop. maybe only 30% of the original. Would have made for a nice print on my wall. I might still try to step it up for a reasonalbe 8x10.

I like the grain on Samuel's face. NO messing around with the DOF (ie. blurring with PS). The bug was in focus as is.

This is such a fascinating photo.....it's the tension in Samuel's fingers as he's leaning forward that really brings it all together for me.

Images like this are why I joined this site........thankyou Jacko

edited cos I'm a lousy speller :P

Soooooooo? Did Sam try to pick up the bug and eat it?

Deannda
I know James would, LOL :)

Again, great shot! You should have been in the top 10!

Hahaha, couldn't resist eh Jacko? Luckily I like the pictures of your son, and your pictures of bugs! Especially this one, nicely done, too bad the bug couldn't have been more visible (from the side or something).
You deserved a way higher finish then this!

Great subject and composition. The DOF and your use of selective desaturation really emphasize the title and theme .... 7

Nice attempt, but I don't think the ladybug is brightly colored enough to scream attention or grab focus, even if everything else around it was selectively desaturated. Perhaps much more contrast of the floor, blowing out the highlights and.or overexposing it would help it to "pop out."

Other than that, technically a good photo.

What's cool about this is the focus between the bug and baby is perfect. The great balance makes my eyes go back and forth from the bug to the child.

Terrific shot. I hate that I can't vote in this challenge when I see something this charming that deserves every 10 it can get. I love the composition, the very up-close angle, and the somewhat grainy texture works perfectly. Good luck in the challenge!

Did she/he try to pick up the ladybug and eat it? I love this, what a wonderful capture, a special moment caught forever. The colors on the ladybug could be just a touch more vibrant but this still deserves a 10
