Mommy, watch me!!by MarkRobComment: I tend to like shots that really have a primary subject in sharp focus and no distracting elements. Environmental portraits can be good at times (there are some very good ones in this challenge), but I think it's usually good not to include too much of the surroundings because they just distract. I'm sure that you didn't have much time to take this, and that's a big problem with candids. In order to make it score high with me you would need a different angle (to the left and down lower would work) & exclude those guys in the background. There are just too many distracting elements in the bg like that tree right over his head. Also, the focus is a bit too soft. As a snapshot it's good, but there's some stiff competition here so the technical aspects are really important :o) ~indigo997 |

girl waitingby grahamgormanComment: I love the colors. Too bad the subject is so far away though - makes it tough to see her. It's still an interesting shot. Well done. |

Kissingby arnitComment: This just seems too perfect to fit under the candid category even if it wasn't staged. The DOF is great. Expsoure is good. Focus is good. The couple is centered and shot straight on. Mind telling me exactly how you managed to catch such a great shot? ~indigo997 |

Untitled by tlalondeComment: I really like this, but he seems so unhappy or tired or something. Works well in B&W. Whites are a bit blown-out in places. Good capture though. ~indigo997 |

Spriteby FrooberComment: I love the sepia tone and gradation in the sand and water. I'd rather see a little more of the girl. There's too much detail to be a true silhouette so it'd be great to see her expression. 7 ~indigo997 |

Exclusionby jmsetzlerComment: The guy on the left is really interesting. All the bright white areas bother me. Tough lighting situation. Interesting angle. Good representation of the challenge. ~indigo997 |
