Meter Maid by MeMex2Comment: This is an adult Burrowing Owl. I was lying in a field photographing baby owls
near their burrows and realized that this guy was sitting on an adjacent house
watching me.
These guys are also called "Urban Owls". Many of them live in crowded suburbs
and are used to human interaction. Because so many empty lots are being developed
the local "Burrowing Owl Association" is offering people money to allow the owls
to live on their property.
Thanks for liking it! It's my all time favorite.

These guys stand on one leg a lot. The babies do too but their
feet are so big they cannot yet tuck them up into their feathers.
