Like the post processing a lot, but one thing that is key in this image is the belt! It takes a few seconds to figure out what it is. I wish you had made the belt a little brighter so it would speak to us more loudly. After all it is a very important element in this photo. Make it jump out the screen and talk to us and not make us go look for it.

I believe DPC advanced editing rules allow multiple shots for increased depth of field (read the first paragraph under the advanced editing rules), so I guess you could have still left the flowers in the bottle and taken multiple shots with various focus points and then blended them together in photoshop (edit-> Auto-Blend Layers ...) ... or have I misunderstood the rule?

Thank you, Janine! I used all 3 extension tubes hooked up together. I always take the lens hood off when I use these tubes because when I use the tubes I get even closer to my subject that I normally would. It takes some time getting used to them and in my experience a little harder to focus with them on than without them, but they provide amazing results on tiny subjects.

What makes this image great is the pose of the dog :) Gave this an 8. The lighting is a tad harsh on her left leg all the way down to her shoe which may have been one of the reasons it didn't do better. Also, her dress is pink which is not a perfect fit in a cool challenge which is perhaps another big reason that you got some low votes.
