quartersby g04tComment: there's a new take on texture that i didn't think of, interesting. quarters certainly do have texture. the execution of the photo could be a little better, your file size is only 1/3 of what's allowed and that shows in the pixelation. the lighting is uneven (darker in the LL corner) and the shadow doesn't add anything here. maybe two light sources? most of all, the photo isn't quite sharp, and that's pretty important for many textures. -- gr8photos (3) |

barbsby jgibsonComment: i'm not quite sure what i'm looking at here. overall, too blurry. i think if this was in focus, i'd like it even if i wasn't sure what it is. -- gr8photos (2) |

Leaf it aloneby freetimeComment: leaves make a great shot for texture, especially the underside of them. what hurts your shot (in my opinion) is that it's not in focus. did you maybe get closer than your camera can focus at? i do that a lot with mine and it always beeps as if it has focused and then i upload the photos and they are all unsharp... sigh. -- gr8photos (3) |

Smooth as Grassby AaronComment: i've already seen your comments in the forum (or your webpage?) so i know the shallow DOF is kind of accidental, but if i hadn't known that, i would've probably commented as follows: the coloring is kind of unique for this kind of shot and i like it. cat and grass make good subjects for texture, but i would increase the DOF (preferably) or at least change the focus so the DOF is where the cat is. also, if it was possible to position the cat more in the picture (ROT) i would like that, too. i wonder what it's looking at? -- gr8photos (3) |

Happy Birthday Dennisby karen_vComment: dennis is cute! :) your idea is good, but the photo could have been sharpened some more so that the cork texture really pops out. -- gr8photos (4) |

Rippled Reflectionby iggy386Comment: where was this entry for the transparency challenge??? this is a pretty cool shot, i'm guessing i'm looking through some kind of glass door or panel, but i don't know what i'm looking at, but that's ok. i like those ovals and red lines. this just doesn't really say 'texture' to me (disclaimer: i know everything's got texture, but - imho - this isn't the greatest representation for it).. -- gr8photos (4) |

You Pick the Texture?by TracyComment: you are pushing your work off on me - picking the texture was YOUR assignment this week! ;) seriously, while the idea is a funny one, the photo itself doesn't do much for me, the items look kind of thrown together. lighting and focus is fine though. -- gr8photos (4) |

The Breakfast of Championsby lmhrComment: i'm starting to like this one more every time i look at it. the idea is great, and the execution nearly flawless (there are some highlights on the nails and spoon). i like the color of the background, too. my top 10 this week. -- gr8photos (9). |

Up A Treeby rondajewelComment: tree bark works well for texture. the focus is good on the bark, too. the light shining through the leaves is a little bright and the rope to the right is a tad distracting imo. i'm not sure what to suggest (short of asking your to place a bird or squirrel on the tree ;) to add a little more of a focal point for interest, i always seem to have that problem with 'up the tree shots', sorry. -- gr8photos (3) |

Chains R Usby arnitComment: uh, this would've been one of my tops if there would've been more focus in this one. i understand that you may have chosen the shallow DOF, but i feel there's too much OOF in here fighting for my attention. sorry. the composition of the chain links is great. is there a chance for you to go back and reshoot? or do you have other versions with larger DOF? -- gr8photos (5) |
