i'm starting to like this one more every time i look at it. the idea is great, and the execution nearly flawless (there are some highlights on the nails and spoon). i like the color of the background, too. my top 10 this week. -- gr8photos (9).

I'd pay money to see someone eat that for breakfast! The photography of the shiny objects in the image could have been improved as the glare is a little strong. Everything else looks pretty good!

Total Score9

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

Good strong image. The blue background is very effective.Lacks a little in focus though. Bottom of the handle is sharp but the nails aren't. Either needs more DOF of focussing to be on the nails as they are the main subject.

. . . or people with really strong teeth. This is a bizarre composition, but I like it. The colors work well too, I think. How did you get the blue background? karmat

Well done picture, composition, focus, exposure, contrast and saturation all good. Would I frame this immage and hange it on my wall? Maybe if I were a manufacture of nails or breakfast cerials.

Very... unique. I would never have thought of a setup like this for a photo. :) The contrast against the blue background is very nice.

This will send your dentist to Hawaii! Very clever! I really love the contrast of the shiny silver against your blue background, and your choice of lighting is really flattering to the nails. Awesome!

I thought I was the only one who ate nails for breakfast...I think you could have done with a little bit less exposure. I'm not the expert on photographing shiny things, but it seems like the highlights are a little bit hot.

Love the image and the humor.

mmm crunchy, even in milk. Interesting thing, milk photographs brownish. The networks previously used Diluted Elmers Glue. Thats why the spoon they lift to their mouths has milk in it and the spoon they put in their mouths doesnt. That second spoon is always dry on the bottom and the top.

yes, love this one. great composition and framing--and the idea is killer. love the vonnegut reference, too. 9--amitchell
