| 08/16/2002 11:02:00 AM | New Growthby waltomlComment: i think i would've tried to move in even closer towards part of that new growth. i was going to comment on moving around that shoot to get the tree out of the background, but you may have included that for comparison, so i won't. even though i personally would've preferred a more even and out of focus background. -- gr8photos (5) |

| 08/16/2002 11:00:00 AM | Coming Up Rosesby daysezComment: i love the shape of the rose with those leaves pointing up and down in opposite directions. i would like to see more texture in the red of the rose. -- gr8photos (7) |
| 08/15/2002 12:34:00 PM | Scent of a photoby conqComment: hm. i don't get it. i'm wondering whehter this has something to do with good old film development (i wouldn't know) but somehow it doesn't strike me as that. it's the title that suggests it for me. the shininess could suggest new-ness, but overall i think i'll be going with the 'not sure how it meets the challenge' line. as for the photo itself, i like the lighting, even though your reflection is quite visible (and impossible to remove), the angle is cool, even though i'm not sure how it adds to the object, and the divided background adds interest. -- gr8photos (5) |
| 08/15/2002 12:38:00 PM | Tomorrow's Lemonadeby prodigal havocComment: my initial reaction was 'that photo needs to be rotated'. the top left flower seems to be the dominant one and it gives the appearance that the photo is on its side. in fact, so do the leaves on the right. i like the colors of the flowers, but personally, i think the composition is too busy, maybe if you had focused in closer on one of the flowers ... but that's just my personal taste. -- gr8photos (4) |
| 08/07/2002 09:16:00 PM | Stopped In It's Tracks by timj351Comment: lol ... it's amazing how much influence your managers have on you. i had one that was always harping on about the difference between its and it's ... you used the wrong one. anyway. i like your picture. the angle and composition is great, even though i don't like the cut off pipe at the top, but i think this is probably still the best angle. the sky is nice and the dandylions add a nice touch. -- gr8photos (7) |
| 08/09/2002 05:00:00 PM | 2nd/3rd century ADby stephanComment: possibly the oldest item photographed for this challenge. nice composition, too. the shadows are too black for my liking though. i would love to see at least a little detail there. i played around with the photo a little, and found that by increasing contrast, brightness and gamma this photo got a little more 'umph' which i think improved it. let me know if you would like a copy of what i did for comparison and to see whether you would like it. -- gr8photos (6) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/07/2002 09:12:00 PM | Isn't dad too old for these toys?by lcgleahComment: i don't know ... even parents should be allowed to have some fun sometimes! :) nice focus and idea for this challenge, i think what would've helped your photo do even better would be a different angle, maybe get lower so you are more on the same level as dad. -- gr8photos (5) |
| 08/05/2002 05:35:00 PM | Happy Daysby lecalanComment: nice one. good angle, sunlight is a little bit too bright. i like how all the vehicles are lined up to the left and then there's the one facing me to the right. the ones to the left all look like they are on a slope though and about to roll into the vehicle on the right. looking at the pole in the background, i think this is your photo. some level adjustment would help with that. -- gr8photos (6) |
| 08/05/2002 04:48:00 PM | The Forgotten 8mmby sylkComment: oh, very cool shot! :) i like the composition, DOF and the color, too. very nicely done. i haven't gotten far in my voting yet, but i suspect this one is going to be one of my favorites. -- gr8photos (9) |
