I took tons of photos of this projector each with a slight difference in composition, lighting and exposure and finally decided on this shot. It was a bit of a hassle to fish some gross dust out of the vacuume cleaner and sprinkle it on the projector ... expecially since I'm allergic to dust ... but I think it adds a nice touch. Another aspect I'm really happy with is the natural sepia tone I got by using a regular table lamp which reflected nicelly on the warm metal texture.

Nice use of curves. I especially like the way you included both reels in the composition. They complement each other through repitition of the curves. I love the way the boxy part up front contrasts with the reels and in between are some details of the "other parts." The contrast of textures is good and the coloring works well here. The dark background is good too. I'm looking for something to NOT like here....um......I can't! Oh wait! A tiny dof issue in the center of the upper reel...hmmmmmm. Oh so what! Still a great photo. Congratulations!

The colours work really well with the subject matter here, it really gives off the feeling of old, well done.

I love the angle, the lighting, and the subject matter! I like how you left the dust on it also! Great job - 9

So, did you add extra dust for that authentic 'lost in the attic' look?

Seems Cluttered.....hard to find the focus......my eye wants to travel all over the photo reather than on what the photo depicts =5 syamjonimi

Nice. But the close crop means it's like an abstract and the balance of shapes and layout doesn't quite work for me.

Good composition. Sepia unnecessary.

Great shot! Very good depth of field. Is this the "real" color or is this sepia? (no matter, just curious) Nice angle of attack, but did you try between the reels? (it might have been a cool view, also) Score change - was 8, now 9! Swash

A classic projector shot, are you sure you took this picture just last week. Is that a little dust I see around the top of the light housing? :-P I like the way the lighting was done and the coloring, gives it that preserved look. The only nit pic I have is that I would have liked to have the knurling on the projection lens in sharp focus. Still, one of my top ten picks.

excellent photo :) The old 8mm projectors are practically a thing of the past... my parents have an old super 8 video camera and a projector, but it is not nearly as 'aged' as this one... excellent lighting and composition... good work :) - jmsetzler
