Life, etc.by bob350Comment: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Great candid image, excellent colours and bags of interest - makes me wonder what I would see to the left and right of your image.
Critical stuff: I do wish the focus on the face was a little crisper and that the black thing at the top of the frame was either not there or made more sense.
Overall: An interesting shot which I have been pleased to have found. |

Positives: Wow, the quality of the light here stopped me in my tracks - the coloration too is sublime. The whole scene is quite magical and looks very much like a miniature.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all
Overall: Very interesting image. Message edited by author 2009-12-08 05:48:25. |

Positives: Very delicately done - the whole look is very much in keeping with the subject. The very narrow zone of focus is highly interesting, but for me the highlight is the shadow!
Critical stuff: Nothing really
Overall: A very precise piece of work which gets the most out of a simple subject. Message edited by author 2009-12-08 05:38:46. |

Positives: I'm afraid I'm really going to struggle to put something here.... I suppose I do like the way that you have managed to capture / emphasise the joints between the piece of turf.
Critical stuff: I'm afraid I don't really get this image, there's little intrinsic interest and your PP does little to add to a quite boring scene.
Overall: Apologies, I'm sure you see something of interest here but it is beyond me. |

Positives: This image is all about light and shadow and you've set up and captured the balance between the two perfectly. The colour and texture is really good too.
Critical stuff: I have mixed feelings about the border - right colour choice but I can't help thinking that the pear perhaps doesn't need its help. I wonder if you'd have framed it if the DPC background was black.
Overall: A very accomplished piece of work. |

Chasing Seagullsby fisheyeComment: That's a lot of birds - pretty good shot too! The saturation of the skin tones is a little high but I like the rest of it. |
