I think a 1/3 or 1/2 stop more exposure would really bring out the texture better

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: This image is all about light and shadow and you've set up and captured the balance between the two perfectly. The colour and texture is really good too.

Critical stuff: I have mixed feelings about the border - right colour choice but I can't help thinking that the pear perhaps doesn't need its help. I wonder if you'd have framed it if the DPC background was black.

Overall: A very accomplished piece of work.

An absolutely superb still life of pear!!!!! Lighting is spectacular. Processing and presentation, too. An elegantly simple image among best of show.
