No attention (for the camera)by hajekaComment: I'm on thin ice here, but I would say that this has too much of a snapshot to really work as a portrait. Technically it is quite good (apart from the background), but I would have wanted eye contact with the model. Given that, this could have been really good.
A portrait without eye contact would only work, I think, if it was part of the story told. A picture of someone following some action that I am not aware of or "part of" ends up a snapshot. (I've got a whole bunch of them myself, and none of them is any good...) |

no smile?by shenanigansComment: Idea, model, pose, expression, crop :)
Lighting :(
I hope you get some good advice from people who know their ropes - I'm still in the trial-and-error phase myself, as far as lighting goes, just about able to spot a problem when I see it, but not confident in how to deal with it.
I find your portrait above average as is, but nowhere near its ultimate potential. |

A peaceful place by IreneMComment: Very romantic. Nicely observed and well composed. The desat greatly adds to the atmosphere. |

Manly Marinaby WildcardComment: Silent night - had visions of Christmas here for some reason. Appealing. |

Afternoon on the Lakeby PascalComment: The painting-like quality is quite appealing, but you should have fished out that floating plastic bag and removed that bit of red waste near the shrubs before the shot. In this type of a romantic picture you do not want to be reminded of the harsh reality...
Looks like a great place, btw. |

Upside down by MotekComment: Tricky! I've been looking at it for quite a while now, and I think/guess/hope I know how you got there. Great idea, great colours, and - if you are so inclined - a picture that is impossible to pass with just a casual glance. |

A Day in the Life of a Lighthouseby KarenNfldComment: I went from "boring" to "hey, this really has something" in a matter of seconds. I guess you will have given the surroundings of the house a bit of an "enlightening", which gives that little edge. The house looks positively inviting compared with the harsh surroundings. The ice of course elevates it further from the masses. This is definitely an "I like it" picture! |

Unexpectedby rinacComment: En garde? Those sticky bits really bring this one in. Just spent an inordinate time wondering if I should like the subdued colours. Decided I probably should. Cool shot. |

Ferry - 0515 - Tsawwassen to Duke Point by IvoComment: Great sky, fantastic colours. That silver streak along the horizon is the final touch. The ferry is just an alibi for the challenge, right...;) Just joking, it is an essential element, balancing it all. |
