Kongsbergby TrollManComment: RE: Population and village designation...
I think the interpretation of those terms really varies around the country here. I live in a state that isn't nearly so populous as others, so my standards are very different. I'm familiar with many "towns" that contain 1-200 people, just within a couple hours drive of my house. My city, which has around 130,000 (including the university population of approx. 25,000) is considered a large city by Colorado standards, but isn't necessarily all that large for other states. Heck, look at Nebraska- one of its sports stadiums becomes the third largest city in the state, come gameday... while Wyoming, my neighbor state to the north, which only has two cities larger than 50,000 (with third largest having 28) yet is 77% the size of all of Norway.
It's all based on where you reside, over here. ;) |

All Alone and Broken.by AarthekComment: The contrast between the subject matter, as well as the colors, make this interesting. I like how the asphalt, which is black with some cobalt, contrasts so starkly with the leaf with its golden sheen. The decrepitude of the leaf is given the backdrop of unyielding synthetic ground, a nice statement in and of itself. |

Kongsbergby TrollManComment: I wonder what the Iphone photo would look like with a bit of a curves adjustment to bring down that sky a bit?
The placid water is really nice though. How big is your village in terms of population? |

P1020476PSDby beneeComment: You know, it's sorta funny... I saw this photo and thought to myself "I bet that was taken with an LX3." There seems to be something about how it captures BW scenes, but I really like it.
Anyway, that nice LX3 contrast works well. I like how the cars are largely obscured, and somewhat lurking, while the wall is illuminated. I also like how the platform pulls us towards the guy in the distance and then the sky pulls me to the right and to explore the parking lot. |

by LelezComment: You know... I actually kinda like the green. Reminds me of some older film shots with that pallor about them. The positioning of the two men is really good too. |

Vacancyby PrismComment: Cool lighting on this one, and the little bits of red really pop from this otherwise drab scene. |

cherry-pickersby jomariComment: The placement of everything in this makes for a nice progression. You have the crosswalk, sign, picker on the left, then you hop visually to the stopsign guy, then to the slow sign guy, then to the other picker and up into the sky. Good balance, both vertically and horizontally, as well. |

Palings and Shadowsby jomariComment: Nice shadowplay. Great lines, I especially like the contrasting direction of the shadows. |

Circles Iby PetRockComment: The circles you've got going here are really cool, and the red metal structure in the background works well. A little added contrast and vibrance to the colors would go a long way I think. |
