Waiting for departureby jjbeguinComment: Stunning... I didn't see this one when voting, but it would have got an instant 10. This is one of the most original and effective shots I've seen on DPC. |

Soul Matesby PedroComment: High-impact shot, but too obviously manipulated in Photoshop for my taste. The dodging/burning on the brown near the trees has worked well, but it's the blue haze around the trees that doesn't work for me. Nice composition. |

12 Apostlesby dinnComment: Very nice shot. Fits the challenge well. Great sky. Well composed, even though I normally don't like the horizon in the middle of a shot. My only criticism is that the colours seem a little dull and look like they need enhancing in Photoshop a little. |

Copycatby MarjoComment: Oh wow, fantastic shot. I love this kind of composition where a subject is 'imitating' something in the background and it is carried off superbly here. The exposure is spot on. I even like your title, although I normally hate puns. 10/10... superb. If I saw this as a postcard, I'd buy it! |

A Spring Eveningby shardyComment: You've caught a lovely moment in the sky with it's corresponding light on the water, it's almost a shame there's your main subject in the way. I can't help feeling though that the use of light in the background is the most interesting thing in this shot and should have been exploited more. Again, there are some beautiful silhouetted hills in the background I would like to see more of. The structure in the foreground really doesn't interest me that much and it's composition here is unimaginative. It is silhouetted, but there's too much interesting clutter behind it for the silhouette to really pop out. There's a lovely mood to this shot though. |

lost without hopeby xburnerxComment: Interesting shot, the slanted horizon works well. I'm not sure it was a good idea to crop the model's head. There's a little too much magenta for my taste, which looks like it was added in post-processing. Nice shadow detail in the foreground, and good idea for a silhouette. |

Floating the Hood Riverby goinskiingComment: Interesting sunset, but I think you were wrong to break the rule of thirds here. Was there a reason why you put the horizon and water so low down in the frame? And the sun is too near the edge of the frame. Therefore, any points of focus are difficult to settle on as they are too near the edge of the frame. In Photoshop I think you could have played with levels and curves to make the boat stand out more from the water. The boat doesn't look too sharp, and it looks like your lens needed a clean judging by some marks in the water to the left of the boat. There are some nice colours in the sky, which might possibly have been enhanced by using Colour Balance in Photoshop. |
