Challenge: Something New II (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Sony DSC-F828
Location: Geneva Switzerland
Date: May 6, 2004
Date Uploaded: May 6, 2004

6th floor of a new Geneva University building. For my first visit up there, the light was adequately dramatic.

Shot underexposed and a little too grainy for most people's taste.
Neat Image treatement before any other kind of proccessing.

That reflection extending into the sky is the freakiest thing ever. Well done! Excellent crop and nice colours. Good luck.

Lovely! This should be in the top 10. Great contrast, nice perspective. I don't really like the reflections of the roof off the glass.

Nice mix to this image...the feeling of being enclosed yet with the big wide world out there on view makes it quite unique.
The light and shadow on the framework also adds to the impact.
Good work

First of all, the landscape/cityscap/cloud scene by itself is absolutely fantastic. You have gone one step further here. The lines in the windows are great, and I love the way the lines from the ceiling blend in with the clouds, etc, and you have to look hard to tell them apart. Great shot! 10.

Wow, where were you? Very heavenly. I like the reflection of the clouds and bars. The color is also nice. The photo is a tad grainy though. Perhaps a smaller ISO?

An absolutely gorgeous image. This could have won the window challenge and certainly is a top image in this challenge. The perspective and reflection make this an awesome capture. The blue tones are the finishing touch. Congrats on a stunning image.

And a nice one too! Great effect - and great colors!

Perhaps they wouldn't accuse my shots of looking like yours if I could ever compose an image like this - they'd just be absolutely certain :-)

There is something affecting in these partial/diagonal compositions - though that blurred and over-reflected lanscape/cityscape adds a new element for this one.

This is amazing! So much detail in the foreground and background, dramatic colors / lighting, and a unique blending of the reflection into the sky. This is an inspiring image to a newcomer like myself.

something about this really appeals - I started out enjoying the lighting and focus of the framework then found myself totally drawn into the view beyond....lovely

I like this photo. I think it would have been a much better photo withouth the reflection in the window but it is still a good photo

What an amazing shot...a nine in my book...I wish the verticals had been just a little more parallel to the vertical of the frame...but a nice shot anyways...the buildings in the bottom might not have been essential.

I gave this a four. The scenery beyond the bars of the window is nice but those bars really aren't working hard as a visual element. For one thing, the main vertical bars have very distracting reflections. The roof also creates a very large, very distracting reflection. The simple monochromatic color scheme, one thing this shot had going for it, is interrupted by the section of rusty roof supports in the top left corner.

I think if you cut off the bottom row of windows, leaving only the mountains the picture will be more powerfull and inigmatic. The maaontains look a bit like waves ad the wonderful reflections drift off to nowhere. The city anchors the image that ought to float. 8

I love the color and the sky, but the top half of the photo is a little too busy for me. I might have cropped in below the light fixture.

I like this. Very clever. The foreground is so distracting you hardly notice the background. THe mountains, the clouds, the buildings, it's a great shot! Very original, quite artistic.

Very nice contrast and color. Love the perspective too! Cropping out some of the roof might make it a stronger image.

Beautiful view! I think it would have been nice to deemphasize the window and emphasize the view. Maybe a bit more zoom; maybe cropping the top.

Very neat shot and breathtaking view. It certainly is a different view of a mountainscape, except maybe in the windows challenge :P Should score well.
