caroling at university parkby permapierComment: The use of selective desaturation is not very effective in this photo. In fact it is very disturbing. The bright red lips and cheeks on the women give them very creepy and clownish appearance that doesn't appear intentional. |

Fine Artby bryanbrazilComment: Holidays? This is a lovely postcard image but I don't see a connection to the challenge. |

bulbsby bruskiComment: I'm not able to make sense of the white sphere behind the ornament---is it a shadow or another ornament? This is too bad because this would have been very nice if it were just the blue ornament against the crisp white background. It is well lit and has a nice high key quality I like. |

Xmas is coming!by JudiComment: Very nice! This is a harmonious grouping of figures and the gift boxes make a nice foreground framing element without looking cluttered or distracting. This is nicely lit with no harsh shadows. The only thing I don't get is the sno-globe with the birds that at first looked like weird kewpie figures to me. |

Comming to Townby Man_Called_HorseComment: There is a quriky, surreal quality to this photo that I really appreciate. I have no idea if it is a happy accident or purely intentional. It's not just that Santa and his reindeer appear to be flying. It is also the odd placement of the tree in the picture plane and the clear blue otherwise empty sky. I might see this in a weird Christmas catalog. |

Bear In Red Velvetby shutterflyComment: Very nice. I like the soft-focus, sparkly background.I wish you showed the whole bear though. This choice of cropping really spoils and otherwise very good shot. |

Keep Those Dancin' Toes Warm!by pidgeComment: The folds, wrinkles, and shadows in the background give this a sloppy haphazard quality and pull focus from the main subject. |

Middle Eastern Hand Carved Mangerby cloudsmeComment: This is a nice subject and you got in nice and close. The lighting leaves something to be desired----the shadows behind the figures are harsh and distracting. Also, the grey background behind the cut-out angel just looks plain bad. It is very drab and there are the shadows that really stand out. Using a black background and positioning the creche further away from it would have provided a sense of space surrounding the creche. As it is it looks quite a bit cramped. |

Holiday Figurineby danderson107Comment: This is a nice photograph but I think it's stretching it to call this a holiday figurine. This appears to be a piece pf garden statuary with pagan origins,i.e,, a figure from classical mythology. Without the soft-focus tree in the background I wouldn't get any sense of the holidays from this. Maybe if the boy had wings? |
