Rather disorganised for a near-abstract shot, and rather in-harmonious in your selection of colours. Some sense of feel in the materials, but let down by those other compositional elements. What interest there is is in the idea of a found moment of contrasts, but I fear that for me that interest is only slight.

Beautifully done - real fine detail as is essential in my view for this challenge. Great tones, great subtlety to the moment of light you've chosen. Perhaps a touch centred in photographic terms - I would have placed it further to the left, so that the eye could wander into the distnace of the bank and return to the plant. Serene colours.

No. Good prtrait, of its type, but both a very small image, and in the manner of good portraits it has reduced the level of texture in a flattering manner - even in the hair and the fur edging of that coat there isn't much.

Honeycomb Wings

Fine study. You've captured some texture in those wings for sure - real fragility there, and also some degree of feel to the stick. DOF is excellent, and also the colour. Photographically, it doesn't quite appeal to me so much - perhaps that rush of colours in the background, but an excellent wildlife macro, for all that.

Neat idea. Well balanced image, and good contrast of substances. Don't think it quite holds my attention enough, but it's a valid attempt.

Cactus Thorn

I find the close-cropping of this unuseful - and lighting from the same direction as the camera has reduced the effect of texture in the shot - try sideways lighting, you'll get mote light and shade, and more interst for the eye. Good shots of cactus are rare - I think generally because they're such lumpy ugly things.

Fine detail missed, apart maybe from the extreme centre of the thing. Balance of light on the subject and nackground doesn't help, and the other 'buds' in background confuse. No great sense of feel coming through. Not sure whether your processing (though it's a very small file size) or perhaps hand-holding the shot (?) has caused this.

Excellent example of a certain type of work. Vibrant, the high-key excellently done, some sense of feel, but more of colour and shape, perhaps. Good work though.

Dark, mysterious, forbidding, odd, flat, evocative, suggestive, but for me, without the challenge bounds - interesting shot, but not in my mind a great one. Refreshingly different though.

Tonality reminiscent of Mr Setzler - and a capture of a quality of waxiness in that leaf that wouldn't be out of place in his work either. I don't know that allowing the curl of the leaf to drift out of frame bottom left is so reminiscent though, and vertainly not a choice I would have made. Strong feeling that the composition would be more harmonious if that stem and the rest of the leaf were included, so that they didn't appearto be emerging separately into view. That said, great meeting of the challenge, and great feel and life to the photography - kind of orthodoxly classical, if you understand. A great example.
