Sorry to hear about your stress (is your daughter going back to school?)--my apartment complex just kind of emptied out at the end of July as many people went back to school, I can park anywhere now! "D

Waterlilies are so interesting. I never thought of having a half-barrel with a waterlily & I might just give it a try next summer. It would give the birds some water to drink, too.

I can see sentinels in this, & I like the DOF. I am a complete sucker for waterlilies, though!

Cool! malfunctioning or mis-used camera equipment is not often discussed or tried out. I was trying to google this subject just the other day, no success. I like the concept, & I know there are some photogs out there making a style of it. This is a quirky image w/a good title. Me like!

Yeah, if only they'd hold still longer & face into the lens more! "D Still this is nice in a minimalistic way & instantly recognizeable. Plus the colors are yummy!

They tell me this is a sweetgum tree. Or maybe a sycamore tree. The spikey seed pods take gold spray paint very well & look kind of interesting on a Christmas wreath. I love the way they stay on the tree & how they look against a stormy sky. No photo can quite capture that feeling as I look up at them, or down at them amongst the leaves, but this is a very close second! Love that stormy sky!

We had a hailstorm last night, so if I was out in this heat/humidity/poor air quality shooting flowers, they would look even more desperate than these...I'm pulling shots from the archives that I just never had time for. Maybe if it's too hot to shoot, you would enjoy doing the same? I like the weatherbeaten flowers, also the ones gone to seed, or blackened by frost--they have character.

One thing I learned about borders is to leave them off for display online, but it is a good & useful skill when preparing for print on a notecard. My flowers look 'matted & framed' if I create a border before they are printed on notecards. I can use the border to create a feeling of a 'set' of notecards, which I like. But a pre-printed border can restrict your options if you should want to mat & frame it later. I like the style of your border, it doesn't look intrusive to me here. This comp is full of sunlight & fresh air, which I like. It'd be fun to try different camera angles. Do they stay open all day & close up at night? They look very pretty, like they would smell good. Lilies almost always include one insect of some kind. I think I spy a tiny insectiod shape on one petal of this lily. I always look. I can't help it. The dark anthers show up well against the lemon yellow petals. I like the hints of the garden in the BG. Keep on clickin'! You wrote an interesting bio.
