I know it's summer here, but the duration of the "heat waves" we've been having is playing havoc on a lot of flowers.

We had a hailstorm last night, so if I was out in this heat/humidity/poor air quality shooting flowers, they would look even more desperate than these...I'm pulling shots from the archives that I just never had time for. Maybe if it's too hot to shoot, you would enjoy doing the same? I like the weatherbeaten flowers, also the ones gone to seed, or blackened by frost--they have character.

the fight for survival displayed in a quiet image - the processing works perfectly to show their battle for life

Very nice capture, Kelli. Something about flowers just past their prime that I think makes them much more interesting.

Nice subject - who said flower images need to be only of perfect, gorgeous flowers? I think this subject would work well with a slight desat treatment and I sure wish the 2 stems were not aligned... It would give more depth to the whole composition. If it's convenient, I'd go back to "explore" the subject further...

Sometimes decay can be just as beautiful as fresh young blossoms. Its like an elderly persons wrinkles, each line tells a story.

Even the ugly ducklings deserve to be photographed sometimes.
This works well for a wilty flower shot.
Nice job of a difficult subject.

The double flowers work well in this one.
Great detail where it counts and super composition.

The detail in the top flower is really strong, and I feel the background, along with the DOF, completes this image.....

Thanks you for sharing this floral image with us.
Our journey has just begun.
