Bull's-eyeby drydocComment: As a rule of thumb, barring some creative decision, you don't want to overexpose areas that contain details (think white flower petal (no) versus reflections on a chrome bumper (yes)).
Flower petals look in focus to me, though I see you added a pretty heavy dose of sharpening in post. Slow shutter speed for the focal length of that lens if you were working at the 250mm end of it. Just thinking out loud regarding your focus concerns. |

TWIRL Blur - Day 2 by sherpetComment: This is very abstract, which certainly works for me. A technique you could experiment with that you might like is to take one shot of the flower, then take a second shot but overexpose it and purposely change the focus so the second shot is completely out of focus. Mix the two images in photoshop and you get a really nice glowing shot. Just thought it might look nice with these bright orange subjects, |
