Hrm, I'm not sure about this one. In some ways I like it, in others I dont. First thing I dont like is the black corner in the lower left - it ruins the flow and I dont see the need to have it there, but I can also see how you couldnt crop it either. It looks like a set-up studio shot so a reshoot could have been done. The two bands of colors - the yellowish white and the purplish white - I'm really not sure what purpose that serves. I kinda like it in a 'that's different' way, but on the other hand it looks like a white balance problem. Had the entire image been the yellowish white then it could have been an almost 'high-key' shot in that the subject blended into the background but could still be seen - camouflage of sorts. The connection with the title is cute, but that also makes it seem like the soft focus and egg is for humor rather than mood, but I suppose humor is a mood too. It's not horrid, but it's different for sure.

The soft focus is good without going over the top, it sets up a nice atmosphere and mood, which is also helped by the golden light coming from behing them. The only things I dont really care for are things that can not be controlled in such a candid shot like this, such as the pacficier/dummy and the either cropped out hand or the uncropped finger. It's good to see that your choice of subject CAN be something more than just a snapshot. Nice image.

FLOWER POWER

I'm assuming this was taken in low light so as to emphasize the fibre optics. The low light setting has caused the image to be slightly blurry rather than soft focus, at least near the top. The lower flower/leaf is much better and I like the pinpoints of light there too. The composition seems chaotic, so much has been cropped out that other than the lower leaf/flower there isnt much of a main subject. I think isolating the lower leaf/flower by getting in a lot closer would have made for a much more dramatic photograph.

The subject choice is good for a soft focus shot. There is softness but the lack of contrast in the shot is not really helping create much of a mood. The stuffed animals are also a little too close to the back cloth, which makes the background become more in focus and in the shot than just being a solid color in the background. The colors seem slightly muted and overall the image seems a little too light, playing with the brightness/contrast levels probably would have helped some.

Bright Weed

This is an interesting abstract. It almost looks like micro organisms under a microscope. The lighting on the weed(s) is good, giving it a nice halo effect. The light also gives it a good soft look/feel too. I'm tempted to say it needs a little more contrast, but I think you'd lose the layering if you did that. The overall image seems a little overexposed, but it's good for an abstract.

Very pretty. I like the angle at which you have the flower coming from the corner. The petals are bright yet soft and with the slight droop sets up a very fragile mood. I like that the green stem is darker and does not overpower or distract from the wonderful flowerhead. A classic style and look, i like it.

Still Life with Pitcher and Roses

This looks very much like a painting. First thing I noticed was actually the table and how it looks like such an odd perspective. The tones of the pitcher are wonderful and have a brushed look. The highlights really make it stand out, it has a very low key look if it wasnt for the whiteness of the flowers and table. They add a nice amount of color/tone and their softness sets the mood nicely. I also like the slightly off center look, which can be difficult in a mostly vertical shot. Very well done.

Softly in red

Think you went a little overboard with the soft focus and unfortunately this just looks very blurry. Composition is good, the red is fairly vibrant, and the reflection on the apple is minimum (which I found to be the hardest part of photographing apples). There is a little browness of the apple flesh, and I've found putting a little lemon juice on the exposed areas can lessen the time it takes for the apple to brown. The image is ok, it just looks like a very heavy fog is distorting the view.

Composition is good and I even like the muted colors. The top of the stamen (?) even looks like it's slightly in focus. I'm almost tempted to say it is a little too soft but I think it works to make an interesting image. The placement of the flower/petal and the shape it makes with the background is really what stands out. Had you used the same soft focus effect with a different composition I dont think it would be as strong. I've grown to like it.

This comes across more as out of focus than soft focus, sorry. The composition is good, and the setting is good for a soft focus image but it's just a little too blurry.
