Toads give you wartsby perotyComment: Great composition! :) It may just be my monitor at work, but the toad seems a bit dark though. I wish I could see this awesome image with the toad better-lit. |

"Three Butterflies Together Mean Good Luck"by scarbrdComment: Excellent capture! I remember reading that superstition when researching for this challenge and thinking, "that would be an awesome shot, but would be damn near impossible to find..." Not only do I like the DOF and the colors in this shot, but you've also managed to capture a great pose from the closest butterfly. Great job! :) |

Chemical Spill: NaCl Everywhere!by EarlBakerComment: Excellent contrast of the salt against the black surface. :) However, I think the metal top to the salt container is a little distracting - being that it's a little hard to make out due to reflecting the black but the eye is still drawn to the specular highlight reflecting off of it. If I had to come up with any suggestions for this very well done shot, it would have been to zoom in much closer to the mouth of the salt shaker so we can see the salt grains in greater detail. |

Throwing Salt Over Your Shoulderby asmithphotosComment: While you have captured some of the throwing "motion" in the hand, I think the setting might hurt you here. While McDonald's is certainly a great place to get salt :), the overall setting is a bit distracting from the main subject of the shot. My personal general rule of thumb is to try and shoot in as simple an atmosphere as possible (i.e. usually one overall color in the background or shot with a tight DOF to blur the background out). Also, I personally think the shot would have had more impact if we could see the salt actually being thrown (hopefully not right at the camera ;) ) and possibly freeze it in midair with a flash. :) Great idea though! |

Troll !!!by taterbugComment: LOL!!! :) I love it! Not only do I really like the angles in the shot from the bridge trusses and riverbank, but the placement of the "troll" is excellent as well. GREAT play on words! :D |

It's bad luck to pick up a coin if it's tails side up.by ReveccaComment: I really like the square frame of the shot, but think I would have liked it even more if the coin (the main subject of the photo) was off-center, like along one of the "thirds". You maybe could have acheived such an effect by shooting this from a lower angle and closer in so you're not looking top-down onto the hand and could therefore use the angles of the fingers to "pull" you into the main area of interest. Excellent idea though and I love that you presented this in black & white. :) |

fallen woman (harlot)by noodleboyComment: Awesome idea for the "failure" challenge and awesome photo! :) The ONLY possible way I could think to improve the shot would be to diffuse the light a bit more so the highlights weren't quite so bright (like on the dollar bills) and the so the shadows weren't so harsh. Great shot though! |

Catastrophic Boiler Tube Failureby dannyleeComment: Wonderful photo! :) I can't wait to read about your setup of the shot. Blue diffused light in the room and red gel over flashlight shined through tube? |
