During another shoot, we came across 4 toads sitting on a set of stairs in the darkness. I was able to capture a few decent shots. This is one of them. It's not as good as I'd like but considering I was not even going to enter this week until 2am Monday morning. It's not too bad.

I didn;t know this

That's a good legend - nice subject for the challenge. The lighting is somewhat extreme. Some fill flash would have brought more detail out in the toad and opened up the deep shadows some. If possible, set your flash to a negative EV value for a nice fill. Best of luck to you.

Good shot. A little fill in lighting would have made this great.

Great idea and well captured. Removing some noise and using the full size available (640xsomething) would help this photo a lot.

I would have liked to see more detail and light to the toad

Not sure if it is my view...but this is quite dark otherwise I would have rated much higher.

Cute shot, nice angle. Lighting could have been brighter on it's face but I'm assuming you had to act quickly.

The lighting highlights the warty nature of the skin, giving it texture, but I think I would prefer the subject to have better lighting from the front.

The toad seems a little dark

Very nice detail on the toad. Great dof and nice pose by the toad.

Great idea and nicely done, although perhaps it is a little dark? The texture of the toad's back is good though, and you might have lost some of this I guess if there was more light. It would be nice to see the eye of the toad a little better though to add more interest to the shot.

toad could be a little lighter.

Excellent the way you have caught the texture on his back there - even though it makes me feel a little ill! ;P

Good shot, but I think it would be nice to see a little more focus on the wall in front of the toad. Also, this shot was probably taken pretty quickly and on the spot, but there is a great deal of noise in the shadows.

Great composition! :) It may just be my monitor at work, but the toad seems a bit dark though. I wish I could see this awesome image with the toad better-lit.

Seems way underexposed. Even though the background would have been whited out, if you had compensated exposure by +1 or so, the toad would have come out much better.

Very cute image. If you had something reflective to give more light to this dark sise of the toad I think you would have had a much better image.

It's certainly an odd perspective of a toad since we usually see them sitting horizontally. Very contrasty, which IMHO cuts down on the detail on toad's skin.

A bit noisy. also some added light on the frog would have helped it pop more. that may have avoided the noise too.

Good framing. The quality is a little suspect.
