I agree. The red was strong enough that the shells almost seemed to sink into it, if that makes any sense? Now they rise above the darker, inviting me to look more closely.
The border matches well, but it seems to crowd the shells so that when my eye gets to the end of the shell it's grabbed by the border and taken off that direction. A very narrow one would be nicer, IMO.
The shells are gorgeous, btw, and the lighting really exposes all the fine detail well. :)

Great capture :) Personally, I'd crop a bit more off the left to bring him out of center, make the impression of impending motion a little stronger. Beautiful lighting and sharpness though :)

The subjects are very good, and I know cats are HARD to catch still and cooperative, but the scratched wood and the objects in background are very distracting. Also, avoid onboard flash for anything more than fill if at all possible. Definitely meets challenge, tho'! Hope the tips help :)

Sharp and clear, good contrast and composition, but the crack isn't really noticable without the title and it' just not terribly interesting.

Okay, I JUST figured this out, after ages of confusion. I think because it doesn't look like it's growing, it looks like you'd been pulling your hair out trying to come up with an idea? ;) What might have worked better would be some clear doublesided tape with short, furrier hair on it? (to look more like your leg, for example)

It's bad luck to pick up a coin if it's tails side up.

Technically speaking it's a good picture, my one nitpick being the bit of leg (?) in the corner, and it does definitely fit the challenge but it's just very static and, if viewed beyond the narrow boundaries of a challenge, rather boring, IMO. Not putting it down, just giving one reason why it may not get a top score :)

Not an easy shot to get. Composition, focus are good but (maybe because of zooming in from a distance?) the sharpness and quality that bring top scores just isn't quite there. Definitely not a terrible picture, tho!

I find this very busy and my eye can't decide where to go, can't find anything to settle on that satisfies it. IMO, the penny is totally overwhelmed.
